Default Do you believe in God?

I was raised in a Catholic home but I was never into it. Everybody in my family were always deep into religion except for me, total opposite.. as im getting older, im starting to think maybe I need a stronger faith, maybe I need to do more positive things in life.

How many of you believe in God and does praying work?

No, but I do believe people are inherently religious to a large degree. There is something intrinsically rewarding about any kind of prayer or ritual, the same thing can be achieved through say meditation without any attachment to a personal god though. Doing good things for people is something that is naturally rewarding if you have achieved a certain security or peace of mind, the means by which this happens is much less important imo.

Yes and yes. I am also Catholic. My faith is lacking lately due to some hopeless feelings I have been experiencing but in the past I have been very faithful and active in the church. When I do so, I feel much more connected to everything and things seem to make a lot more sense. Even with my low ebb of faith I still volunteer my time doing maintenance at my church. I do so as I maintain a deep gratitude for how my faith has helped me in the past. All you need is the faith of a mustard seed my friend. Now where is NV, he can set us all straight.

I believe. But it isnt a just a 'He' as some cultures would have you to believe. The male side is the co creative and destructive and descending dimension side of the One though.
Over 95 % of cultures have their own name for God. Even natives that were remote and were on an extreme grounded earthy level of existence knew of the original spirit of things. The beginning stories of giants that all seem to coalesce, the statues showing small people around giants cannot all be dismissed as just fairy tales. The flower of life emblem carved into temples in three different areas around the globe in the spots where stones larger than cars are placed to within a degree of the universe above isnt just a set of coincidences.
When the ancients wrote or spoke of the serpent descending they are talking about planetary shifts or ancient alignments that effected the consciousness of lesser beings if they faced 'their way' instead of the way. There is more truth in the Emerald tablets of Thoth Hermes Trimagestus and the works of Melchizedek the highest priest of the One true God as mentioned in the old testament than anything any mortal man later in time 'co wrote' from within his own cultural belief system, backed up by only the male side of God or not.
In the west, the diluted form we are given to read by those in control of scripture from only 3 thousand years ago is now tainted by their original want to control a half of their followers immediately by it (females) then all others by it through force or manipulation and by growing their own numbers with regulations and a written breeding program so they continue to rule over the many.

The world seems a little to complex to me and languages etc seem so designed and complex outside of biology or chemistry. I certainly dont believe in any concept of a God brought forward by any religion. The entire ideal seems pointless and reduces God to a reflection of us. I do think there is something though.

you, guys, are practicing the wrong principle. "Boast no of your love to the LORD, but his love for you". That's why you are suffering from the lack of faith. Notice, that it has nothing to do with formal "religion": how often you go to church or even read bible to a certain degree.
Basically, in your relationship with God you are relying on your flesh and fleshly efforts, which fundamentally wrong. You gotta be confident that God is faithfull to his promises in the first place, not that you are faithfull, especially when things get tough or you fail = sin. This is what would make a difference in your life.

I am skipping a very important question why would God love you unconditionally If you do not know why, at a certain point of your struggle you may start doubting this.

    Absolutely.

While faith is not about what denomination a person is, I can tell you that the Catholics have a lot of practices that are not biblical (I too was raised in the Roman Catholic church). It's a lot of reciting mindless prayers and rituals and whatnot.

I guess the question I would ask is why do you think you need more faith? What is it that you get out of that, that you couldn't get doing some volunteer work?
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

That physical complexity there gives me even more faith, because that is only the physical make up of only the fourth dimension compressing 3d things into matter and theres another 12 dimensions above and below us that make up the other 94.2% of what actually exists.
There is not one physicist left in the world today who still says I can only believe in what I can see or touch.
But theres a lot of normal people who still teach their kids that point of view in relation to what is and what isnt.
What people used to think of as 'nothing' the modern scientist and physicists have proven it is so much more than nothing, and by their measurements its about 94% more than something.
    Ya have to love that.
