Just read this and my gut feeling is that Groves is telling the truth here
You gotta admire the man for not being walked over and sticking to his guns.

Groves turned down a 25% cut knowing that he's entitled to only 15% if the IBF ruled in his favour. There's no way Matchroom/Froch will risk losing the fight to another promoter through purse bids.
If Froch dumps the belt Groves fights for it and gets to sign with any promoter he likes. With the fame he's got from this fight and with a "world" title he will be big business. And he gets to claim Froch ducked him.
You could argue that it's Groves that doesn't want the rematch.![]()
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
A rematch would be great as the first fight was excellent. It was a rubbish ending though. This time out I think Groves sends Froch into retirement. He is just too fast, slick, clever, smart. Froch was lucky, lucky, lucky. Lightning won't strike twice (not that there was any lightning first time out).
Not sure why Froch is a cunt, he's obviously agreed to the fight if they're in negotiations, it's just about getting the money right.
Groves is now contesting the IBF over the 15% ruling.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Groves doesn't want to commit his future to Matchroom. I think that's the issue. He wants to be #1 Super-Middle for his promoter and Hearn favours Froch. I think he's worried about getting mugged again.
I like what Groves is doing here
He's got Froch right where he wants him is is playing on it , its a win win.
If Froch doesn't give him what he wants he'll be remembered as the man who ducked George Groves not the man who got a tko over him thats joe public for you.
Groves still gets a title shot that he'll win then has way more bargaining power to taunt Froch some more.
Master is bang on.... Groves is being very clever here![]()

After what happened in the first fight and the general shit he's taken throughout his career, it's good to see him holding the cards and in a way calling the shots.
You say tomato,
‘n I say …… it correctly.
Groves is being a dumbass here not clever-he wants a rematch and has been offered one along with the biggest payday he will have ever had or is ever likely to get at this stage in a career. The hype surrounding Groves is embarrassing and he is being judged by one good performance-personally I dont see what is clever about pursuing the mandatory route when he will be entitled to considerably less of a purse for a fight he has already been offered!
Your totally missing the point fella ;-)
Groves will easily beat Brandon whatever his name is and take the belt.
He also knows he's got Frochs number second time round, Froch can only fight one way
Are you saying that when Groves is a World Champion and he fights Froch he wont have more to bring to the table when it comes to negotiating a deal?
To be honest I think maybe he is getting some "off the record" advice because the way he's trying to hustle is exactly the way Adam Booth does.
And the one good performance you mention just happened to be his first real test against one of the toughest fighters in years and look what he did... floored him in the first then owned him round after round.
Trust me if that KO in round 1 was 20-30 seconds earlier we wouldn't be having this conversation![]()
Its all about momentum, the only way George Groves keeps hold of it is by securing a rematch with Froch so him playing hard ball doesnt look like a smart move to me. If he fights anyone other than Froch the arsehole will fall out of the interest thats built due to fight one. We'll all watch of course regardless who he fights but a rematch with froch would go beyond us idiots.
To me everything hinges on him beating Froch in a rematch. If anything other than that happens I wouldnt mind a fiver on him sliding into obscurity in the next couple of years. Decent fighter yes, but the only thing thats colourful about him is his hair.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
He's appealing the appeal now lol
People (Once their memories are jogged) dont forget a rematch like this with 2 Huge domestic rivals ...
Benn v Eubank 2 was massive and was 3 years after the first fight happened.
Of course a rematch will happen sooner or later and if Groves brings a belt into the equation its gonna be a bigger event all round.
http://www.nottinghampost.com/Groves-appeals-IBF-purse-split-Froch-rematch/story-20525693-detail/story.html
Frank Warren has spoken to Froch amd Groves and is interested in putting it on if it goes to Purse Bids
I dont think at all that Froch would win the rematch, he cant fight any other way than he did that night but the question is can/will Groves
Warren could snatch this

So lets say this went down at Wembley Stadium... hypothetical like.
80,000 punters would rip the hands off the ticket sellers.
Average price £80-100. (Probably higher)
Thats serious money right there and Warren has his own outlet for tv.
Obviously other channels across the world are gonna want in too.
More money...sponsors etc...more money.
If this is the next fight for both fighters then its at its peak hype wise and a massive event.
Just saying![]()
