seriously, canelo couldnt get down another pound? even if that is true, then dont fight at 154! the rule needs to go back to same day weigh ins. make bigger fines for coming in overweight so that it will force people to stay in their correct weight class or at least a weight class that they know for sure they can make. im all for taking 90% of their purse and just telling them that they should have followed the rules.

Very unprofessional, and the only reason a guy like Canelo can do it is because he has the power and there's no way Angulo is going to turn down the fight.

I think the commissions should stipulate that if you don't make weight, you automatically forfeit 50% of your purse to your opponent.

It's rediculous, the contract says it's being held at a certain weight, so it's your ultimate responisibility to make that weight.

Angulo should smash him in the face with his elbow, and when he complains say "ohhh, you thought the contract said 155? I thought the contract said this was under MMA rules."

And/or enter the fight one point down (good suggestion on a sweetscience article today).

Getting fined is justified but entering the fight with one point down is pretty silly.. this is pro boxing, not some play fighting..

One point down is gay dude.

Not gay. In that case so is a fine.

The point deduction simply levels out the advantage of coming in heavier but doesn't make it play fighting IMHO. So a pro-boxer needs to come in heavier than a supposedly inferior opponent? Now that's weak.
A fine won't do anything if you have the cash/name as someone said before or somewhere else or whatever but a point less would make "pros" think about it.

I think Canelo will win anyway. Better boxer.

I like this idea of docking points ;-)

Fining fighters aint gonna work for title fights as most are already fairl wealthy when they get to that stage anyway.

The advantage Salido had over Lomanchenko last saturday was a joke and made for an unfair fight.

After seeing that fight go ahead of course other fighters are gonna try and take the piss out of the system and gain an advantage so take that advantage away and let them enter the fight 1 or 2 rounds down!

Stopping someone's purse wont take away any advantage once they step through the ropes so its pointless

The Mexican fight scene in Mexico is very poor... they allow anything to happen and thus when the new fighters come into the international arena, they show poor ethics.

Gone are the days of JJC Sr., Morrales, Barrera, etc, etc... these were the last set of Mexican fighters that showed professionalism and class.

This new breed of fighters seem jaded, unconcerned and just in it for whatever reason.

It's not can't make the weight, its wont in a lot of these cases. The majority are the heavy, pun intended, favorites and seems like a slew of hbo house fighters. I seriously think they factor in the fine money in a purse and frankly when you can throw money at a problem as sandwiched in between possibly two massive pay days ya really can cope. Also cut this hidden 'unofficial' weight bs and announce what they are actually in the ring as compared to weigh in. Audience deserves to know what unannounced catchweight they are really watching. I mentioned the point dock awhile ago and there has to be a penalty other than financial. Something that impacts the actual fight. It's completely disrespectful to all involved. Spoiled fat hefers.

A move back to same-day weigh-ins is the answer combined with an increase in the fine.

there could be some sort of three strikes rule

if you miss weight so many times in big fights then you cant fight in a chanpionship fight for so long or something

it isnt the first time canelo has done it

i know it would never happen like
