It doesn't look like the big challenges were coming and maybe this could help him try and get a GGG fight.

I guess the 1.4 million to fight Korobov was not big enough.
Fucking pathetic waste of space. Korobov is nothing special. Career high pay day and he turns it down. Quillin is a disgrace and Haymon is a disgrace to boxing and is making a mockery of the sport.
Maybe Quillin knows something we don't, like he is on borrowed time and wants the chance to get a big payday vs. Cotto/Canelo vice being exposed and ruined by a lesser known fighter for less money. I don't think the guy is anything more than a glorified club fighter at this point, barely even contender level, but he has some guys on this forum convinced that he is legit and guys like GGG don't stand a chance against him. If he fights even half way decent competition, then there will be no doubt as to what his level as a fighter is.
Doesnt make a lot of sense to me. Its not like quillen had been calling people out for years or something. He knew he was playing is fairly safe. The Jacobs fight has been out there for a few weeks in the rumor mill, and its an all brooklyn fight. I personally think Jacobs needs to be showcased for another fight before they build this. So quillen should have fought Korobov. As it is, they are rushing this and wont get the money they think. Not only that. If quillen loses, he most likely drops out of sight...
I'll watch it.... and Root for jacobs (hope he's got that wild swinging out of his system in the last fight.)
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I wont hold my breath. This guy refuses to step up and the Wbo gave him an extension and he still fled. He might get half that pay against Jacobs but I doubt he takes the fight. If he wanted bigger things then he should have unified with the Kazak. Cotto is the money grab at 160 along with Alvarez when its official and they are booked.
I've been saying he and Jacobs would do a all in the family home town clash since Jacobs returned and I'd bet this is the road needed in order to make that happen. The wbo very likely would have stripped him had he looked to unify. As long as that's the next step, like we're all sages, I'm not shitting on the guy.
