Hard to say as there is not a bench mark for beating either.

I'd venture a guess at a 12 round Calzaghe SD.

I'd pick Calzaghe because he adapted to every style he fought and over came it, and while no one else can figure out wards holding and destroying the enjoyment of a fight tactics, I believe Calzaghe would have.
    You say tomato,
    ‘n I say …… it correctly.

Agree with the above , although it could go either way. One for the purists, I think it would've been a bit of a chess match.

i think that ward would have landed shots at will against calzaghe. he was always very wide open to get countered. he was just very active with his hands. i think that calzaghe would win some rounds through activity but that would win a decisive decision.

I don't think it would have been pretty. It would have been very similar to Hopkins. I doubt Ward would live with Joes pace. He slows in the last few rounds and gets caught as he did against Bika. Joe wasn't just work rate. He was tough, took a very good shot was adaptable and believe it or not could punch.

Steady Ross, I can see us more or less agreeing on this!

I think Ward beats him pretty bad. Hop was old and gassed in his fight vs Joe, n would have dominated him prime vs prime. Ward does the same. Makes it ugly with some grappling if he needs to, but beats Joe pretty convincingly.

the difference with bika is that bika had power that ward had to be aware of. joe didnt punch with force very often.

Ward gets butchered. He'd think he was fighting a crowd.
