This guy has fought too long and in too many wars. hang 'em up, Miguel. Va a ser bien peligroso se tu sigas peleando como un jovencito chiquito. @TitoFan Estas dacuerdo?

He managed to beat an old, shot, handicapped fighter in Martinez doe....
Didnt Margarito have dodgy hand wraps for that fight? Who knows. If so, not e actly even terms.
Lo cierto es que está mas allá de su pico, mientras el otro va subiendo y es mucho mas joven. Veo tu punto, @brocktonblockbust .
Miguel Cotto is a great fighter, no questions asked.
First Cotto could beat Canelo, and now Cotto is shot and needs to retire?
Xmas is over Brockton, put the bottle down!
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"

I somewhat agree. Cotto seems on a career end slowdown looking for big paydays. If he was serious he would prove himself a MW against GGG. I don't think he wants the toughest fights, he wants the biggest pay day for the easiest fights. He is cashing out.
The thread is about whether Cotto should retire and whether he is "shot".
The fact of the matter is, Cotto is a little shop-worn. He's taken some pretty good punishment throughout some very tough fights in his career. He's on the declining side of what has been an HOF career, and one has to wonder how much is left in the tank. On the other hand, he has surprised people on more than one occasion with his resiliency and his ability to reinvent himself. People didn't give him much of a chance against the likes of Judah and Mosley, saying he was too slow, and not a good enough boxer. He proved people wrong on both counts. He's salvaged victory from defeat, as in his classic brawl with puncher Ricardo Torres. He gave Floyd one of his toughest fights in recent years, and people are talking about a possible rematch. He has adapted his style on more than one occasion, and done a good job of it.
So can Cotto surprise people once again? Who's to tell?
I know I'll be rooting for him.
Cotto has had a great career, but for me it doesn't have the same focus it had at WW which was his peak. The Mayweather showing was very good, but otherwise I question the opposition. On paper the win over Martinez is significant, but many were questioning the legs beforehand, so it was arguably cynical. If Cotto wants to be a MW then fine, beat some MW's, but I don't think he's a MW and he probably knows that. A Canelo fight would be a big test and would answer any questions about Cotto. Cotto isn't shot, but the beatings he is taken and the strange Trout loss make you wonder. The Martinez fight didn't really prove anything other than Martinez himself is shot.
gracias por la oportunidad de practicar mi espanol. @TitoFan
