Default 23 year old Australian fighter dies after 10 round fight

Sad News he seemed like a nice fella after reading some reports, he took a bit of a beating during the fight but didn't seem badly hurt during it but did eat a shitload of fierce uppercuts.

    RIP

After just reading some of the "premature stoppage" idiots in the Pascal thread. Terrible.

I know mate!! he was rocked in the penultimate round but apparently wasn't showing danger signs at all then 90 mins later turned grey and collapsed, not too much info on why exactly they decided to turn of the life support machine within 48 hours?

I find that a bit strange but im guessing the brain injury must have been massive

Damn, twenty three, very sad, very sad for his family.

Now that boxing is making its way to prime time again I'm wondering how any , God forbid, future tragedy will impact the sport. Look at the outcry over concussions in football. The point of boxing is to give your opponent a concussion.

Makes you wonder just how Boxing could try harder to embrace technology and help the safety of fighters more, i mean the money in and around boxing is massive so there can be no excuses about cost etc.

I've often though what would be a good idea would be when the fighters have their break between rounds if they could have some kind of mobile scanning device for the head to quickly scan over it and pick up on any internal bleeding etc?

This is fact about how long a CT scan takes - "Modern CT scanners are so fast that they can scan through large sections of the body in just a few seconds, and even faster in small children. Such speed is beneficial for all patients but especially children, the elderly and critically ill, all of whom may have difficulty in remaining still, even for the brief time necessary to obtain images."

Head CT (Computed Tomography, CAT scan)

If they spotted something then stop the fight and get the fighter to a neurosurgeon asap

It wouldn't have to hinder the trainers or cut man while they are talking to or helping the fighter if the device was able to be swung round over the fighters head quickly and was small enough and practical enough, i don't know if such devices actually exist but with all the money boxing generates surely some investment could be made bearing in mind we live in a time of I-Watches and Bionic limbs etc.

If it saves lives and possibly Boxing then more should be done or at least looked into and invested in i think

And it's not a great idea to have your dad in your corner.
