Re: Career change
I'd say driving truck- but that takes people out weeks at a time lol! Businesses need merchandise: truckers get it to em. Plus its hard to get a pink slip in that trade.
Beware on the I.T. tip aka Information & technology.
India to China are pumping out I.T. personnel by the tens of thousands who are versed in coding across platforms- where here in America- a person spends megaloot just to gain one type. You'd be surprised how many Arabs, Indians are in computer technology. They own more than just gas stations!!!
Mainframe: there is anything from Cobol to JCL to midrange SQL per AS/400.
To server(s) Linux, Unix per SQL to JAVA to Visual Basic. Per website the typical HTML.
In other words- coding can be limited to the type of company. mom & pop shops to mid sized companies don't need JCL or Cobol & some major corporations have in-house coding. Shit that is only useful there. Linux/Unix is most places.
- as a result; many companies have given their I.T. jobs to contractors who in turn hire of projects- as opposed to full time workers. Kelly IT, ManPower etc.
with shit like this: Looking for SQL, Visual Basic for a nine month project.
What that means- is some ass hole person called a project manager did metrics: how many hours did the last programmer work in a week, did they create code- or update existing- then they go to the manager and say- fire 5 out of those 10 programmers and replace them with 3 temporary ones.
Walaa: Kelly IT, Manpower etc are called to fill those spots.
The stable position in I.T.?
DBA (data base administrator)is decent & solid, but so few are needed per company. Same with Server Administrators- they can make about 100k, but out of a company sized at 1,000, maybe 5-10 positions in this trade.
or those who deal with the security(firewall) aspect of computers aka I.T. are stable positions- again few needed.
I think the most stable jobs in America is 1. owning your own business 2. driving truck 3. selling dope.
