Default Rocky Marciano: a Fighter who left his SOUL in the ring

When Marciano put them gloves on, he went out at the bell and gave his heart and soul, EVERY SECOND OF EVERY ROUND. Every punch he tried to knock you out. He never took any time "OFF" during a round, he never "BURNT THE CLOCK" during any round.

What a true warrior. 49-0. TBE.

You are right, it was all or nothing with Marciano. I think he probably knew it wasn't the smartest way to fight but it was something he couldn't or wouldn't control. It was who he was, obviously.

Watching that maniac chop down his opponents 3 minutes of every round is an amazing thing to see. Very often by the 5th round he was well behind on points and then when the fight was about halfway through his steady maniacal pressure and his unwavering and unbending mental strength and focus started to take a heavy toll on his opponents. He would then start to systematically butcher and bludgeon and blast 3 minutes of every round... the man was an unstoppable force of nature truly earning the name the Blockbuster

Marciano would certainly blast the living s*** out of modern day fighters simply through to undeniable Waze. First and foremost his conditioning and stamina will beyond the people's wildest imaginations. Archie Moore said that Rocky Marciano had far far more stamina than any other fighter in any weight class. I think Archie Moore knows what he is talking about. Unless we want to go with the opinions of people like Lamon Brewster or Dominic Quinn or deontay wilder.

I think I will go with what Archie Moore said.

Also Rocky Marciano busted up anything that he could hit. Even glancing blows would knock his opponent out.... cold cocked in the freezer.

Marciano fought bums for over half his career.

His record against real opposition is 18-0.

The question is whether he fought bums because a) that's all that was available at the time, or whether b) he fought bums while running from better fighters. I'd guess the answer is "a", so it's academic, really. He fought what was available. He may not have been a smooth boxer, but he was fierce and constantly pressed the action, making him a huge crowd favorite.

It would be nice to know how he would have done against decent competition. Many aggressive fighters have no plan B. They look great against weak opposition, like on Rocky's CV, but have no answer when things don't go their way. Rocky dominated his weak opposition though, good for him.
