I heard Kirkland got injured and there is talk of BJS being the replacement.

Was surprised to hear that. It seems Kirkland suffered a broken nose.
Injury to James Kirkland forces cancellation of bout with Miguel Cotto
Could Brook step in?
The card got cancelled. Oh well. It was an awful PPV fight anyways.
I wonder if it was really an injury or they just knew the card was going to bomb. I mean any time Kirkland spars nowadays you'd think there's a reasonable chance someone could break his nose by accident, either is very possible. Will be interesting to see if they can get anyone better to step in, if that happens I'm guessing Kirkland was given a bit of cash to step aside so they could save the show.
Do they even worry about the ppv being poor? They make their money back even with few sales. The fight should be on ESPN.

This is one farce I'm glad to see fall apart. Not like Cotto can find a TBA either as that is what Kirkland felt like in the first place. I' don't doubt Kirkland had a broken nose but more like they sniffed the air and found fans were dismissing this as a pile. Sad Cotto has to muddle through in what has to be one of his final fights with this. Like I said before stop grabbing for gimmes and loose change, go out big and with some meaning.
I honestly didn't mind the fight but it's just a horrible PPV fight. Kirkland makes exciting fights and Cotto is old so I'm not expecting him to take a really tough fight. If this were just on normal HBO I wouldn't mind it.
Cotto fought a couple of free fights and he should do that again against lower level fighters. Otherwise just retire and stop ripping the boxing fans off.

The fight shouldn't have been PPV. Apparently Marquez' people have reached out to Cotto's team again.
@Alpha I have read the same thing. There's also an interview that are now about a week old with BJS where he alludes to a very well known fighter they are very close to agreeing with where BJS would have to travel.
Lots of conspiracies floating around about the legitimacy of Kirkland's injury. Even Cotto was quoted as asking for medical evidence. Trying to cover that 10m guarantee for Cotto might have been a stretch. Kirkland has lied before, when he said he was injured and then asked for more money vs Canelo.
I heard Cotto vs Marquez might almost be a done deal.
Cotto vs JMM is something that could probably be Gatti-Ward-esque.
