Default Thurman was beautiful last night

Simply amazing performance by 1 time. He showed everything that night, he boxed with great lateral movement at times and at other times came forward and walked Garcia down. He was so fluid between those two transitions and both were effective. I loved how focused he was too you could see it in his eyes and feel it, especially when he was measuring and probing with the feeler jabs. He definatley rose to the occasion this fight!

I think Errol takes out everyone at 147 but thurman is a man to be respected for sure! Powerful and can box, cerebral and confident.

I'm not going to knock you for you opinion but if you ask me it wasn't that impressive at all, he won the fight but neither fighter shone in their performance and it was a bit of a soggy fart if I'm being honest

It was an interesting fight but Garcia was not busy enough and Thurman nearly threw the fight away at the end by giving up the rounds running. Thurman could have blown the fight away like Oscar did against Tito.

Garcia was the prize pig everyone was bidding on because he just looked so succulent. Looked like the knife would carve him up like butter. Then Thurman made Garcia look hard. I've never thought Garcia was as good as I think now. Thanks to Thurman.

You are right, I never rated Garcia at all and did not see what others saw in him that made them think he could beat Thurman. I honestly thought Thurman would easily beat Garcia and even stop him because I saw Garcia as slow, low tempo and mechanical.

However he must be good to really press Thurman throughout the fight and he landed some hard shots.

On the other hand Thurman running late nearly cost him the fight and he should have pressed the later rounds more to win convincingly.

I think we all pretty much knew Garcia has slow feet and that Thurman would exploit that flaw by moving constantly and not allowing Danny to set his feet to punch. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I'm not Knocking or insulting you for yours, but I don't agree at all about Thurman looking good in that fight. I feel like Thurman had some moments early, but overall did the bare minimum to eke out a win vs a much slower opponent. I feel that Lamont Peterson dominated and looked better vs Danny than Thurman did (and he "lost" that fight!).

Wow it felt strange watching the fight and not being able to post until Monday morning...

Anyway, maybe my bar is too low, but I thought it was a good fight. I didn't enjoy seeing Thurman run "a la De La Hoya" during the last round. At least it was only the last round and not the last 3 rounds, like DLH did. Still, it looked ugly and he got booed lustily. Hopefully someday, when they're fixing other rules in boxing which turn people off, they'll address some way to avoid this sprinting contest in the last rounds.

Other than that, I thought Thurman did what he had to do to win the fight. He used his speed, and engaged in enough exchanges to make the fight very exciting. But again, that's just me. I thought Danny gave it his best shot, but should've pressed more in the 2nd half of the fight, as it became apparent he was falling behind. Mikeeod's point about Garcia being a 140-pounder must be considered also. Some of the shots he connected would've probably had more of an effect on someone other than a natural 147-pounder like Thurman.

I thought they acquitted themselves quite well, and my thought is I've had to pay for a lot crappier fights than this one I watched for free.

I have said on another thread that I actually rate Garcia more now in defeat because I never thought he was that good.

I did expect Thurman to win far easier but think Danny is better than I thought and not Thurman being poor. Thurman could have done better at the end instead of giving the rounds away but his right hand bombs kept Danny concerned and contained.

Thurman didn't impress me. I thought for sure that the winner of this fight would crack the top 10 for me, but Thurman just didn't look quite impressive enough. He is a good fighter, but I honestly don't think he is special by any means.

Spence is a KO waiting to happen. I would like to see Thurman vs Spence now.

I though it was a bit weak. If Garcia had some footwork Thurman would have been forced to dig deeper. A Hatton/Cotto type fighter would bust him up and stomp him down as he reverts to running.

Well when you look at the fight the right guy rightful won thank god for that but it was pretty much Oscar vs Trindad fight. This time they at least did not screw Thurman who won the most rounds so he should win the fight.
