Jacobs and HBO wanted Spike (understandable after his last performance) but the Irishman's mob turned it down, so they're ironing out a deal with their second choice, Lee, instead.

Not sure why Jacobs can't fight Murata/Charlo/Derevyanchenko/Andrade or Lemieux (none of whom have a fight scheduled) but Lee is 9th ranked with The Ring and at least has a lights-out bangers chance.

Lee's inactivity has to be a worry in this fight. He does have that lightning strike of a punch but I see an easy win for Jacobs.

Lee brought in as 'familiar' cannon fodder. If anything a sideways step for Jacobs but HBO will try to tie 3 yr old BJ fight in. Derevyanchenko and Charlo mandatory for Golovkin so forget Jacobs, Lemieux was just painted and embarrassed, Murata..HBO don't do YouTube!

I think fighting Andy Lee is just a fight for his profile for his promoter to drum up UK interest in him. the public here know Andy Lee and they'll play on the "ex World Champion" tag.
As a fight, I would prefer a harder challenge and the top order to fight each other , but I suppose Boxing politics is probably getting in the way of that.

It would be a decent fight but Lee has not fought since March 2017!

It’s a name but Lee doesn’t really fight anymore. He was never really a good fighter either. He had a good punch was really it. He obviously has a punchers chance but I don’t see Jacobs taking any chances. He will probably just box for 12 rounds and win an easy decision.

I do agree though that there are multiple other fights he should be looking for other than this one. Kind of disappointing.
