Default Those genealogy DNA test just leave more info about u for gov to steal

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...ler/557263002/

Popular genetic testing companies 23andMe and Ancestry.com are holding on to more than information about your family tree, which raises privacy conerns. Experts confirm DNA in these databases can be accessed by law enforcement and third party companies under certain circumstances, revealing intimate information about user’s medical history and biological relationships.

Of course I'm glad they caught that serial killer but I don't like how the government accesses these DNA databases. They can already get all my banking, credit and medical history I'd rather they don't get my DNA

Same debate is had about CCTV, finger prints concerning the individuals rights to societies protection. I side with the authorities and the checks and balances with legal system, democracy and journalism.

We are not talking about authorities accessing something set up by them, we are talking about authorities trolling data bases of private companies to conduct searches. Our Supreme Court already ruled DNA can be used like fingerprints, my issue is with how they gather it

Yeah because goodness knows there would never be any kind of abuse of power by any sort of authority figure.

The 23andme folks and ancestry.com folks are supposed to provide DNA results not hold on to such material just in case they or the government needs to use it. Honestly we're not too terribly far away from there being human clones, the ONLY reason that we don't have them now (that we know about) is because it's against the law, but laws change.......if 23andme or ancestry.com has your DNA who OWNS your DNA? Could they make clones of you without asking? How would you feel about that?

I think you're being naive if you're not asking questions about why someone/some corporation would want to keep your DNA and what they might want to use it for. But that's just me, I'm not paranoid I'm very curious.

How would that work for people who believe in a soul? Surely there can only be one of the real you if you believe that?

Plenty of vain rich people who would clone themselves already i am sure and I am pretty sure they have started cloning pets. Do you believe animals have souls?

When deoxyribonucleic acid did it's polyrhythms and paradiddles in some mysterious way four and a half billion years ago or even longer than that, and suddenly dead matter became living matter, I believe that any living creature has a soul, from a single cell organism to the most complex creature imaginable.

I don't know what I think about souls. I certainly don't subscribe to one containing all the ego and things that make someone a distinct human carrying on. I think that is just vain frightened humans being afraid to let go. Energy has to go somewhere but I don't know about containing anything from it's previous host. Not every creature has an arsehole though.

In addition to the companies possible intent with holding DNA wherever they store it, is vulnerable to hacking. Bio hacking is a new concern. I set up a machine at work with my fingerprint, I regret doing so, I'll never be able to get it off the Internet off things. When I saw the finger print options I thought it was cool and did it on impulse. Damn #neveragain. They steal your identity and now your bio info if your dumb enough like me. Never my DNA

Nobody can define or quantify what makes up a soul. We'd get way out in the weeds hypothesizing about if a clone of me would have my soul (I reckon not) or one of it's own but that is not necessarily my concern.

They HAVE indeed started cloning pets, I'd never clone a pet either. When people get seemingly unlimited lives then life loses what makes it precious which is that it is finite.

Imagine if you will, there was genetic manipulation and the wealthy got all the cures for diseases and so on or they could clone themselves and the poor were left to rot in the gutters or starved or wiped out with a disease specifically targeted to weaknesses in their DNA.....I know eugenics happened and in my state there were forced sterilizations for certain people up until the 1970's....think big government wouldn't run roughshod over the peons? Think again! They do it whenever they are able to. Give an inch to a politician and they'll see themselves as a ruler.

Well we are basically one big walking bag of chemicals waiting to leave a damp spot. It is surprising thought that there was a moment when someone said..sure, what the hell.. I'll stuff these swab sticks in my mouth and put them in the mail. What about hair follicles are they carrying DNA?

One of the founders of Facebook who is probably 30 had a speaking engagement where he said billionaires will be the immortal. It was cryptic but he seemed to be saying it literally. He talked about the medical care billionaires can access versus we reg folk. It would certainly change our current plutocracy. Damn I wish I could remember his name. They played the video on FOX, I’ll see if I can remember and dig up the vid
