Default Ben Whittaker v Liam Cameron 2

This bout was going to be on an undercard but now is a main event this Sunday.

The fierce rivals are set to square off on Easter Sunday at the BP Pulse Live Arena in Birmingham after their inaugural encounter ended in controversial circumstances.

Ben Whittaker is working with Andy Lee who is his new trainer and that will help him develop and reach his potential.

Have to think and/or hope Lee helps to ground Whitaker regarding all of the marvel comic meets Hong Kong Phooey nonsense. Let the natural talent rise.

It was never intended to be 12 rounds. That was an admin error by his promoter Shalom who had to cover the mistake with his own money. Still makes a good story to sell this matchup.

Looks like this will be a good boxing event on Sunday.

Yeah but here’s the thing, ok it wasn’t meant to be 12 rounds, but so what? Why kick up such a big fuss?
On one hand this guy wants us to think he is elite or moving towards elite.
But on the other hand he wants 10 rounders rather than the championship distance.
Now you will turn around and say “who says he’s bothered?” Well the very fact that there is such a load of bollocks about it is proof of that.
Whittaker was blowing after 6 rounds in the last fight when he was being pressured.
Now Whittaker will probably win. But if he wants people to believe he’s on the road to somewhere special , that is a fucking minimum requirement.

so what did liam's contract say? boxxer wouldn't have to be paying liam to accept ten rounds if his contract didn't say twelve rounds. stupid mistake. not ben's fault but it doesn't show much confidence from him after quitting in the first fight that he needs his promoter to pay his opponent to agree to less rounds. i expect ben to win but he should have just taken the fight over twelve & gone in the ring & won the fight, boxxer could have just paid him to accept twelve, like my original posts states, i guess benny didn't want twelve rounds

Ben is still a novice in the game and 10 rounds is sensible for him at this stage. No need to make an issue of it but it sells the fight as people are talking about it.

Cameron, who boasts 23 wins from his 31 scraps in the paid ranks, responded: "They paid me an absolute fortune.

"He could have called my bluff. I could have been wanting to do the ten all this time.

"I dreamed for these moments. How can I complain? I'm here, I'm ready, I'm in much better shape [than the first fight].

"Let the games begin in the ring now. I've given myself the best opportunity.

"I've put myself in a frame of mind, a mental state, where I'll be scared.

"I'll be that scared dog in the changing room and that brings the best out of me. It's been magical and we're going to put on a big show."

"Last night I got told it was eight," Whittaker joked. "It's an eight rounder if I'm honest.

"I don't know what the rounds are. Seriously though we've worked really hard.

"We've done so many rounds and we'll see."

excuses. sounds like you & benny both don't want twelve rounds. there was an issue, liam had a contract for twelve rounds. i can't emphasis how stupid a mistake that is from boxxer. it looks even worse that they had to pay liam to accept ten rounds instead of stepping up & fighting over twelve, especially after quitting in the first fight. whatever happens from here it will always be known that benny didn't fancy the fight over twelve
