I'll never understand this. I could understand why you would leave for kickboxing or what not. I just don't see how wrestling is entertaining. I've watched UFC fights and for me the most entertaining part of the fights are the striking. Once they hit the ground, I go to sleep. Also, if you are leaving because of the referees you weren't a fan in the first place. [\quote]
Well, I've been a boxing fan since the Hagler/Leonard/Hitman days. I Started boxing myself with Mike Tyson in my dreams and competed myself to a descent amateur national level. I'm not a die hard boxing fan, but I practiced boxing a lot and know the last 30 years of boxing in terms of "big/meaningful" matchs.
But I completely understand you might question this.
I still love boxing ! but not the way it's presented today. (maybe it explains more than the whole thing) :-)
Well, I'm not just tired of the referees (there were always bad referees in any eras). but I'm tired of the whole business. Fighters ducking Fighters. protected fighters 4 "WORLD" organization with 17 weight classes...Gosh I don't even know the world champions today in every division. We let bad organisation operates (WBA) and worst people ever to manage them (Suleiman/King).
The show have come to a point where it's laughable, good matchup takes 1-2 years to materialize...and so on and so on. it's never-ending story. Quite Frankly I would dream to see an UFC like in boxing...who mandates Mayweather to fight pacquiao...and if not then he should be banned to fight for minor division. Do you realize we might never seen this bout ?
On the UFC stuff, well it's not wrestling ! it's a lot more than that. and people on the ground with good Brazilian Jiu jutsu are lethal. once you get to know how difficult and technical is the ground game, you really appreciate the events.
it's just that it's more entertaining with a lot more quality shows..on a regular basis. The champs (they have what ? 7 weight classes) in the UFC can be recognised as legitimate champs of the world...
Well, it doesn't explain the whole situation, but for me it was enough to switch. not for ever, but for now !
