Is there a british poster or a hard core Floyd fan in here that thinks Hatton was in his prime againts Pac?

Hatton has always been a very good, but very well matched fighter.
Even when he was on the up, he was at times inconsistent. There were some pretty mediocre performances against WBU ranked fighters. I never saw massive improvements in him. If anything, as he moved up to world level, he started to hold more, and box less.
His prime was probably a little earlier than the Tszyu fight, but he was held back by Warren, so we'll never know for sure. I tend to agree with Snakey's point about him still being in his prime (or something close to it) when he lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao. Those two were just simply on another level, and stylistically they were both a big problem for him. He's never really know how to react to an opponent with great hand speed. It's no coincedence that Collazo, Mayweather and Pacquiao either knocked him out or had him in great trouble.
Under Warren he was kept away from that type of quick, combination punching fighter. At world level, you can only avoid them for so long. Like i said, very good fighter, and great for British boxing, but he had flaws which made it nearly impossible for him to look good against a certain style of opponent.

Not really gonna go into the topic but i keep hearing this Collazo/Hatton, debate coming up alot. To try and discredit Ricky Hatton, it was Ricky Hatton's 1st fight at 147. And he did do enough to win a close decision, in a similar way Andre Berto did. Because Luis Collazo didn't fight often enough simple as.
But Luis Collazo is/was a solid fighter, and is a Southpaw. There's no shame in struggling with Luis Collazo, who can give most fighters problems on his best night, he had broken hand vs Shane Mosley and that's only real fight he's been beaten in, except an earlier loss in his career.
Please show me the other thread I started? Hatton hating....how am I hatton hating? I have nothing against Hatton, I picked him against Pac and wanted him to go well. I picked against him against Floyd coz I knew Floyd was going to win.
Anyway I dont give a fuck about your labels![]()
I have no doubt that Hatton's prime moment was the Tszyu fight, he had it all to win and he did, but while people were hyperventilating over the result they forgot one important aspect that came out of that fight. Hatton also took a pounding and i don't think he was ever the same again, he fought and beat some good fighters including an old Castillo, but gone was the aura of invincibilty that Hatton had when he went into the ring against an ageing, inactive, injury ridden Tszyu. It took a lot out of Ricky Hatton and he did himself no favours by ballooning up in weight inbetween fights. Hatton's prime was June 2005, he was on the slide after that and went off the rails meeting Mayweather and the Pacman. The fact that he was done at age 30 says something.
Hatton's fans wanted very badly for Hatton to be better than he actually was. He rode the wave of euphoria after the Tszyu fight (in which I think he got away with murder for the mobbing tactics against Tszyu... and the ref was in on it). After this, fans became carried away and of course Hatton's engaging personality and down-home roots made him a hometown favorite. People wanted it badly. How else to explain the thousands that trekked from the UK to Vegas to watch Hatton get destroyed by Mayweather? As I've mentioned in countless threads... what pissed me off about Hatton was all of this getting to his head and him claiming he was fighting for the world's p4p vs. Mayweather and then against Pacquaio. So much so, that I thoroughly enjoyed both beatings. Would've loved to have seen him against Cotto at 147... Miguel would've had a field day with Hatton. Now... it's hard not to feel sorry for the guy, seeing as to how far he has fallen from grace. Sorry... but a lot of it was hype to begin with.
Some advice for people that think Hatton was actually good -
Don't admit it.
Admitting on this site is the worst sin and instantly shows you in the eyes of others to be laughably retarded. So, over time people that have thought 'oh, i'm sure I thought Hatton was pretty good' have become embarrased to say so. Therefore Hatton is now the most disrespected boxer on this site (maybe equal with Audley) - an absurd situation. Unless you are a veteren poster sticking up for Hatton will only have you condemed as 'knowing nothing about boxing'. But it's bullshit. He was elite. He was world class. He did legitimately beat (a slightly passed his prime) Tszyu. He legitmately lost to Mayweather. He lost to Pacquiao badly but is fair to say he was passed his best by then too. He would always lose to Pacquiao but clearly the Hatton that could still hold a shot would have done better. It is not retarded to say that.
So, dont be shamed into accepting things about Hatton that you don't actually believe.
Oh, Violent Demise is still a bed wetter.

It's all pretty simple
Hatton + Paris = Hatton p4p fighter
Hatton - Paris = Hatton barely mediocre
This thread disproves what your saying. Majority of people in this thread have a disagreed with me and probably are labeling me as a hater. Its quite the opposite, say Hatton wasnt AS good as he was and your looked upon as you described above. I didnt even say he wasnt good...I said he wasnt AS good as he was made out to be and that I still think he was physically in his prime against Manny Pac. But people want to cling to this notion that the man who beat Tszyu was no where near the ring that night, he was...he just had bad tactics, a new trainer and a beast of an opponent.
Hatton never dodged anyone, he always chased the worlds best and he always gave 100%, how can people condem his career just cos he fell short against the 2best p4p, hatton didnt actually do that bad against floyd and he was fighting joe cortez aswell that nite!! Which was a shame cos mayweather had enuff class to beat hatton without needin help from the ref, ok hatton got blasted by pac but that was the best punch pac has ever or will ever land! I also think hatton had taken afew too many punches in his career by then, hattons drug shame was awful and is to see any boxer fall diwn that road, but no one pulls oscar to bits over his rehab/drugs problem, boxings all these guys live for and when its taken away it must be hard to handle, please dont get me wrong im not sayin ricky was p4p the best and most talented boxer on the planet, but he made up for it in power, heart and a will to win, i dont see how anyone can say hatton wasnt world class?!?
Hatton was NEVER world-class. Hatton had a "perfect-storm" type of moment against Kostya Tszyu, and the snowball (hype) began rolling down the hill, gathering size and momentum as it rolled along. Hatton himself got caught up in it, and declared he was fighting for world's p4p both against Mayweather and against Pac, both of whom brought him back to his senses. (Well... in Pac's case, he actually got separated from his senses). In reality, had he earned both of those shots? Probably not.
Loving a fighter, and insisting he's world-class when he's not, are two completely different things. Nothing against Hatton the person, he was/is very engaging. He may have lost his humility somewhere along the line, but that's understandable when you've got an entire nation telling you you're the best in the world.
