    Smile It's what you like.

Talking to some friends about fighting sports, MMA came up they were telling me boxing is on the decline
I pointed out on PPV Floyd sold over well over a million ppvs on the same night a major UFC PPV sold about 1 hundred thousand. One of the people I was talking to does MMA he was having some boxing coaching off a lad I no this lad gave the class a boxing lesson. They were all out boxed they were all I'm
afraid easy to hit. I was asked why do you think boxing is the ultimate fighting sport, in boxing there are no hiding places straight from the off you get hit.
Weather you are a Armature or Pro in boxing, you have to take punches, in a lot of the Marshal Arts
    minimal contact is only allowed.
It comes down to what you like Boxing MMA, or what ever it all comes down to your personal taste.

People like to act like one is so much better than the other, but they're mistaken. You're very right, it is an issue of personal taste.

I think UFC is better run than boxing, though. Sadly enough. We could take some lessons from Dana White.

UFC has similar issues as boxing does and it has no reason to. Poorly judged bouts, poorly reffed bouts, poor matchups, fighters not making weight, fighters using PED's, etc. About the ONLY thing UFC does well is constantly provide deep cards for PPV's .....AT THE EXPENSE of their fighters' wages.

I don't like MMA because it's SUPPOSED to be all of the martial arts, a perfect blend, and every last one of those bastards can't box for shit

The thought processes arent all there with a few of the heavier ones too.

You can see its a mentality of "Im beating him using this style' and thats it,no variation just fixed intentions.

Funny I remember watching one heavy weight follow another around in a large circle anti clockwise for a whole three rounds trying to kick his foot out, Cutting off the ring didnt work out well for his preferred distance.
Not once did the chaser (who didnt wish to get within arms reach of the monster) think to even head off in the reverse direction, just to see what would happen.

Still some boxing matches arent much better, some people just keep trying the same thing even when it isnt working. Why ?

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

Lyle you got some good points, people do seem to love the glitz and hype of the UFC very slick you have to agree. But boxing is a very different animal it is suffering at the moment, from very poor match making I feel boxing may be a bit flat at this time, there are some great fighters and matches out there lets all hope they can be made.

Boxing has been around for ages, it's had it's good times and it's bad times. Right now boxing is huge in Europe and UFC is filling the void here in the states. Boxing will come back around in the US, it may take some time, but the money made off of boxing and the money boxers make dwarfs MMA and one way or another that will have to change before MMA can claim victory over boxing. Sure you can have people saying "Well nobody knows who is the heavyweight champion of the world in boxing" but hell I don't think many people know who the champions are in UFC either. In boxing at least it's because there are 5 billion belts for each weight class.

MMA has its place and its fans and so does boxing, I remember in the 70's and 80's kick boxing was
supposable the next big thing but it never achieved to get on par with boxing.
Boxing has been about for years your side of the pond Lyle, all you need is a HW champion you will get one no doubt and when it happens boxing will be huge again.
