England did well and I was pleasantly surprised he chose Ox ahead of Downing. I think Ashley and Wellbeck did well considering they had to do a lot of chasing.
Looks like the decision to make him my captain was a wise one

Sweden were poor though. They should put up a better fight against England.

Russia look tidy.1-0 up on Poland, Dzagoev scoring again. If they get the win they'll be the first team through.

The best games so far to me have been Spain-Italy, Sweden-Ukraine, Greece-Poland, Poland-Russia, and maybe Germany-Portugal. Some games I wasn't really looking forward to in there. The only boring-ish games have been England-France, and Ireland-Croatia (the worst of the bunch to me). Overall, a pretty good tournament so far.

Odds for winning the Euro, A group:
    Russia - 12
    Poland - 51
    Czech Republic - 67
    Greece - 201

Which is funny, considering the outcomes so far:
    Poland - Greece 1 : 1
    Russia - Czech R. 4 : 1
    Czech R. - Greece 2 : 1
    Poland - Russia 1 : 1

I kind of feel sorry for the Irish, looks like they will only get further beating in next 2 matches. Odds for winning the Euro - 251

Bunch of blind Patriots. Biased eyes fail to look beyond mediocrity. It is the worst England team in many a decade.

There should never be a process of 'rebuilding'. To need a paradigm shift is a sign of serious mismanagement.

The fact is we simply don't have the players to build with and it certainly shouldn't be happening at an international tournament.

We don't know how to create chances beyond set plays. It is a glaring and obvious weakness.

Having said that, I shall support them. I think they are weak though. Just not a good team.

You missed the chance that James Milner fluffed then, or the one that Mexis denied Welbeck from Johnsons cross?

If Milner scores (as he should have) it probably goes down as a top drawer performance. Given the fact that its opening game and no one wants to get off to a losing start I think the chances we created were just fine.

If you and your students disagree I can live with that.

Be thankful you don't have to root for the US national team.

It's getting to that level in some ways though. Usually there are false expectations for the England team, but noone has any expectation that we will do much here.

Plenty of far better teams. But if we get to the knockout stages it is one game at a time and Chelsea did it against Barcelona.

I will support my team, but I think they are very lacklustre compared to teams of yesteryear.

And don't diss the knowledge of my students. Many of the males watch just as much English and international football as people in England.

It is very popular here. They know as much as you or I and not one positive voice about the England team and many are cheering the English on.

It was a dull defensive performance and chances were few and far between. 4 shots is shocking. It is like a fighter throwing 200 punches in a fight, nobody likes to see that.

So you're just going to ignore my post and throw your toys out of your pram because I dissed your students? How paternal of you

Actually you did acknowledge it because you've now conceded that we created more than just the goal

You should have saved this salvo for after the Sweden game, if we're (in yours and your students eyes) negative in that game then moan it up!

I didn't ignore your post, you made some valid points. But likewise, the counter argument is equally valid. Reading the media they seem to be jumping between the way we are both looking at it. We will have to see how it pans out.

Regardless, I hope I am wrong about our toothless football, but it isn't a team that I can see creating a lot of chances. Defensively we are sound, but we are weak in midfield and just cannot create.

Still, we are all cheering them on.

You are a moaning cunt who knows fuck all about supporting anyone. We could win the world cup and you would still whinge. You have completely missed the point of this team in which many young players are accruing valuable experience to stand them in good stead for the future. When Rooney has a chance to play our attacking play will no doubt improve, all though you probably don't rate him either with you and your clueless students vast knowledge of football. Participating in life and taking joy from doing so is the point of life something that seems to pass you by. Blind Patriotism? What are you talking about? People are being realistic not saying this is the best team since 66, but no, you are never happy unless you are pissing on someone's parade.

we are playing to ur strengths - unfortunately we don't have any

But look at this statistic. We had two shots on goal on Monday and scored one.

Imagine what will happen when have eight shots !!!
