Carrying out a survey a short period before an extra bank holiday because of the monarchy is simply skewing the figures.

That's like asking people who are walking towards a Conservative free ice-cream stand whether or not they like the Conservatives. Although, in fairness, those posh boys would never have a free ice-cream stand.

Thanks for clearing the issue... had no idea what the real score was...

    Now, I'm confused again.
... alright, I guess it's 'nuff of outsider's meddling so I'll bid chao from this issue, and don't forget, the olympics is coming so time to get your acts together.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

    Voted for.

The Queen does a lot for the country, and when she is gone we will have Charles or Wills as King.

    Long live the Monarchy

Yes, they were and they didn't hide it (just what NSDAP stands for)*. Their policy of coercing the people in only one right direction is similar to what present day leftists do (they call themselves "liberals" for some reason). A book was written about this - I don't like to legitimize Wikipedia by quoting it but here it is:

    *But they weren't communists.
So Hillary Clinton equates with Adolf Hitler? They advocate similar kinds of things? The Soviet Union used to be called the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics but that doesn't mean it was run by Republicans. The economic philosophy by Mussolini, later Hitler and last but not least by Franco was a "corporatist" society. "Corporatism" was also called "socialism" from the days of Mussolini.

Italy, Portugal and Spain preserved some of the features of corporatism long after 1945. Spain was a corporatist society in many ways well into the early 1980s.

In the decade or so before the Nazis took power they fought pitched battles on the streets of Germany with socialists, rather like extreme right and left groups do in europe today. When the Nazis did seize power -- backed by all the major German industrial families, not something you'd expect to see with a socialist party -- the first thing they did was set up a concentration camp at Dachau, and the first people they sent to the camp were the country's socialist politicians, university professors, trades unionists and so on.

And the Zazis fought on the side of Franco, the fascist dictator, against lefties and socialists in the Spanish civil war.

The Spanish Civil War (which was an actual 'Civil War' unlike the misnomer the one in the United States is known for....if you want to know why they are different I'd be PLEASED to explain it to you) was between the Republicans and the Nationalists. The Republicans also had Nationalists helping them only they were Catalan & Basque Nationalists....the Soviets also helped the Republicans. As for The Nationalists the idea you can just call all of them "right wing" is a little silly....on some issues certainly they were right wing especially when it came to how much military they wanted, but I do not believe that either the Nationalists nor the Republicans figured to have a lot of liberty in their societies. Free Press wasn't going to work with the Nazi's or the Soviets....they just didn't do that. On either side if you were an individual that stood out you would get hammered down into place right quick.....or just murdered.

"I have come to think, especially since my trip to Spain, that civil liberties must be protected at every stage. In Spain I am sure that the introduction of GPU methods by the Communists did as much harm as their tank men, pilots and experienced military men did good. The trouble with an all powerful secret police in the hands of fanatics, or of anybody, is that once it gets started there's no stopping it until it has corrupted the whole body politic. I am afraid that's what's happening in Russia." - John Dos Pasos wrote that and I think it's a fair assessment of both the Soviets & the Nazi's

I have no inclination one way or the other.

But in order to even out the polls, I voted FOR.

It's a bullshit end. He isn't even in the Commonwealth. His vote should be null and void.

We all hate the Queen. I have no doubt about it.

There is no one on this board apart from those that do that could possibly not hate the queen. I hope Martyn McGuinness has one of those trick electric shock things for when he shakes hands with the queen. Dirty fuckin sellout.

This poll was rigged and I am angry that it has turned out like this. I trust people to vote honestly and when they vote cynically that undermines the entire vote. Bigger fool me for having any faith in the integrity of people.

That little twat has a history of being a bit of a twat and now he who has no stake, suddenly votes for the monarchy. The guy is a cretin.
