I'm not sure this fight would sell as a PPV anymore. Hatton's not a big enough name in the US and most people want Gatti to retire. I agree it would give Hatton more exposure if it played for free on HBO. As dumb a fight as it would be, more people would watch it than Hatton-Collazo I (or II, for that matter), if not just for the cringe-factor of seeing Gatti lose a few more brain cells and teeth. Although it would give Hatton more exposure though, it would do nothing to make people who don't know him think he's any good.Originally Posted by bigragu
I think it's plain awful that Gatti's team are even considering him fighting on.
Besides Hatton and Gatti are great friends and have hung out together - Hatton was his guest at his home when he faced Mayweather.
We all know Hatton would flatten Gatti (even at his peak).
Billy Graham (Hatton trainer) was a commentator on the UK Gatti-Baldy fight and afterwards said it would be cruel for Gatti to fight on now - and anyone he fought him would be a bit sick really, that Gatti don't deserve that after what he's given boxing.
No, Hatton is Gonna Hurt Gatti.gatti is gonna hurt himselfunfortunetly!
Because this fight happenening in New Jersey would be like the Superbowl....Gatti will still fill the Boardwalk to Capacity....From a dollar standpoint makes sense(no pun intended) from a what does the Boxing community have to gain, well since when does the higher ups really care about anything other than lining their pockets...But it might be entertaining

I wouldn't mind this fight being made, if it's at 140 it will be a war. Remember Gatti was in his fight with Baldomir although he seemed to get hurt with almost every shot the fight was pretty even until the end. I don't think Hatton will do that sort of damage with each punch. This would be a great treat for fans as I feel it would be a total battle. Hatton should stop Gatti though, but Gatti's heart could carry him til the final bell
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
good point...before the baldomir fight it could have went PPV but now HBO or Showtime would still be respectable....Originally Posted by shza

eh, i don't know. i usually agree with you, but here i thought baldo was winning nearly every round. i think the same will happen with hatton--he's busier and more accurate than gatti, and will likely be inside too much to get hit with anything too hard.Originally Posted by galaxy76
Personally I would like to see Gatti in with Ann Wolf, that would be a more competitive match in my opinion, although I'd still only give Gatti a punchers chance at best
Amazing point.Originally Posted by BoxingGorilla

...also...let it be know that I value your & everyone's opinion on Gatti...I just don't follow the straight & narrow of it.Originally Posted by NuthaPug
There are more deserving & better fights & fighters out there that should have the shot at Hatton.

Agreed...but it was more the way that he lost instead of just losing. There was no power, no gain, nothing against Baldomir, & then there was the KO.Originally Posted by The Game

Gatti has a punchers chance, but his last few fights, he has faded badly halfway through(of course he was taking alot of punches). Can't tell if 147 is too big for him, or if age and mileage has finally caught up. Probably both. Fight could be exciting for sure, and Hatton doesnt have a big name lined up.Originally Posted by bigragu
If Zab gets a shot at Floyd after losing to Baldomir, I guess it's only fair that Gatti gets a shot at someone after losing to Baldomir. HA HA HA!
Gatti's not a great fighter but he's a great warrior and has a great name.
It might be a good "business" decision for Hatton to fight Gatti.
But as far as "good for boxing" or will it "move boxing forward" as Starr might ask, probably not.
The only interesting outcome to a Hatton-Gatti fight would be a Gatti win - and a win that wasn't a fluke or won by lucky punch. An undisputed and respectable Gatti win would make this fight important. Nothing else could.
Other than that, Hatton has bigger fish to fry in terms of proving his place in the current boxing scene. No offense to Gatti.
