I was right, Savon wan the last round by a point but lost overall by 1 point.

Some of Savons shots werent landing correctly but that last round was pretty easy to score. I didnt actually score it but I saw quite a few very clean scoring shots by Savon, enough to actually win the round by more than one point!

Yes, like I said IMO it was close but Joshua won. Savon was no Felix, he was quick but inaccurate. Joshua landed more. The third round could have turned it round for the Cuban and I wouldn't have called it a robbery because it was close. The British gymnasts being demoted to bronze was a robbery after a Japanese dismount that was about as graceful as a polar bear on roller skates, but the boxing wasn't. Joshua can go up a gear in the next round and looks like the pro game will suit him.
This is why I'm glad I'm not a blind patriot and can judge a sport on the performances/merits of individual athletes regardless of where they're from. Saves me making posts like the one quoted above and looking like a complete pillock.

I like Joshua. He's a heavy in good shape which is more than can be said for 90% of heavyweights in this day and age. He'll suit the pro game perfectly and if it was a pro fight probably would have battered Savon. However, he boxed Joshua's head off in this contest.

Also your "Robbery" in gymnastics is explained here (it was also explained by the British commentators who mentioned it was the right call but hey..robbery ) :

"After Japanese star Kohei Uchimura fell during his pommel horse dismount, the British team moved into second place, and Ukraine took third. Japan, who had been in second all day, was shockingly out of the medals.

It didn't seem right, and that's because it wasn't. The judges made an error on Uchimura's score. As the British crowd danced and cheered for their country's first gymnastics team medal in 100 years, the Japanese delegation filed an inquiry.

Their party was short-lived. The gymnastics federation found they made a mistake in Uchimura's start value by not crediting him for his dismount. The half-point awarded to Uchimura made the difference. Japan moved into second, Great Britain into third, and Ukraine was left out of the medals."

To be fair... have you ever noticed where is previous Olympics the host countries' medal count suddenly surges from previous Olympics? One crass example was Spain during the 1992 games. I'm not discrediting the vast improvements made by the Spaniards in different sports, especially AFTER those Olympics..... but there was an obvious jump in medal count which at least in part has to be due to some of the "judging" events.

Using this same reasoning, expect a sudden surge in Brazil's medal count in the 2016 Olympics.

I don't think Joshua will take a shot very well when he turns pro. Potentially Amir Khan without the speed. Good luck to him though, hope he wins the gold medal and does better than our last gold medal winning heavyweight.

I think people are reading too much into his performance last night. He had a tough opener and a hell of a lot of pressure. I thought the result was right but could of gone either way. He'll be better next time against the Silver medal winning China man.

As for doing better than our last gold medalist in the super Heavies?? I think I could have done better than him

    True.
But GB finished 4th in medal table at Beijing with 19 golds and give or take a couple we are looking about the same this time. But really I guess it helps countries that are strong in subjective sports more - gymnastics, diving etc (see China 200. Boxing is probably the only subjective sport that Britain are strong at so we won't get that 'boost'.

So what he got the decision, I've seen terrible judging on a lot of Olympic boxing past and present,
you can bitch all you want. The Amateur scene has always, been hard to figure out on the scoring
rounds. There again the pro boxing, has abysmal scoring all in all both sides are far from perfect,
Joshua got the decision, good luck to him it seem's you need luck and you do, remember it far from
the worst decision any of us have ever seen.

Well, I can definitely agree with that. Amateur scoring has left me baffled on more than one occasion. Yesterday was another of those occasions.

Greenbeanz..a strange conclusion to draw from my explaining why I thought your post was wrong. You concluded vanity and without friends from my post? Weird... :/

Not really your photo made me think that ages a go but I am probably wrong and you are just proud of your physique, no friends as in you haven't added any on the forum but yeah I am a bit weird. I apologise for constantly pissing you off but I really am not the little Englander you seem to think I am or portray me as. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am a wapanese wigga jew with Polish/English ancestry and a deep interest, love and experience of many cultures.

That sounds exactly like when I watched Agogo in the ABA finals a few years back. He won but he was on his last legs and had been dropped by a fighter who wasn't technically anything special, but would not leave Agogo alone..constantly marching forward. Agogo isn't suited to the pro ranks at all.

Beanz, genuine like for your post. Wapanese Wigga Jew's make me happy.

If you add up the points...Khytrov had a 53-52 edge yet lost the countback

You can "add friends" on Saddo's? That seems a little silly -- like the old mutual-masturbation era of making a big show of cool-clicking each other (with the big smiley holding a "Cool Click" sign).

FWIW, I tend to agree with nearly all of Althugz's posts.

Didn't watch this fight (have a hard time getting excited about Olympic-style amateur boxing) but I assume it wasn't as huge a robbery as the old RJJ in Seoul fight?
