He handled Williams relatively easily, but you're right about his struggles stepping up.

I thought Martirosyan set the pace well and Lara was showing similiar to the way he had in his last couple including Molina. He spends alot of time posing and again sorta went through the motions, got dirty and didn't sit down with purpose up until midway. Vanes was with him the entire way and did very well for himself. The kicker was scoring a .26 second round which to me makes no sense. They need to rematch.

Thought it was a pretty blatant robbery even declaring it a draw.

Lara outboxed and heavily outlanded Martirosyan in nearly every round. In some cases 13-5 and 11-3, yet Harold and the HBO hype team STILL gave those rounds to Vanes...

Had it 7-2 for Lara, by scoring the 9th, but 6-3 would also be correct.

Pretty easy fight to score with one guy just following the southpaw around the ring, missing, trying rough house tactics and getting pot shotted all night.

I disagree with your score, but it is what it is. Many of the rounds didn't jump out to me as "LARA" or "VANES" rounds. Lara ran a lot; Vanes didn't land a ton. This fight in some ways reminded me of Dirrell vs. Froch. Dirrell - Lara, Froch-Martirosyan. What I find funny is that both these guys complain endlessly about wanting to face a big name in Canelo etc., yet turn in a fight that no one is very excited about.

I thought Dirrell won the Froch fight too, but it was quite close.

Yes, it was a competitive fight, but neither Lara or Vanes wanted to take any big risks and Vanes did not even think about continuing on with that cut, can't say I blame him tho.

Its funny to me because true runners like Cory Spinks against Mayorga and Karmazin, people will give those fights to Spinks, or Nafeauol Ben Rabah against Juan Urango, people will give that fight to Ben Rabah.

But when Lara boxes more than those two, he is labeled a runner and not given rounds he deserves.

Honestly, it seems to come down to personal bias and sway on viewers from the HBO commentators I think. People who don't like Lara simply won't give him rounds in a fight like this. I do like Lara due to his screwjob loss to Williams a while back, and I truly felt he was winning this one.
