Well ggg seems to be fearless but he needs to chill, he'd be way undersized for lt heavy he's already a smallish middleweight. He's got hbo behind him now I think so he should just keep fighting whoever is put in front of him, win by spectacular ko and the big fights should come. If they don't he should take a page out of hayes book start talkin shit and lure one of the other names in to the ring, however it doesn't seem he has that within his character.

... is it at all that impressive to "call out" a 48-year old Hopkins, regardless of how great he has been?

Aren't there other, younger fish to fry for GGG?

Spot on analysis of Golovkin. He is a nice fellow and def has HBO behind him so the big money fights will come. He is also very undersized for light heavyweight. He's undersized for a super middleweight as well. I'd say he wouldn't fare much better than Abraham did at that weight.

This sadly is what it’s come to for this guy. Had he been a heavyweight or reside in a different place he would have been a real star long ago. He’s called out almost everybody at 160 to no avail. This is so because he’s most likely the most dangerous at 160 but not a household name and does not bring the same cash to justify the risk. That’s what so screwed up today. If you are marketable because of circumstances like where you live or what last name you have, you can collect a paper title, make millions of dollars and never fight a real threat. If however you are a really good fighter but hail from Kazakhstan with a name you cant pronounce that has challenged every other marquee fighter in the division while compiling a 25/0 record with 22 knockouts you toil in obscurity.

Golovakin is a bigger puncher and better boxer than AA so could do better than Arthur did at super middle but it is best to stay at middle at destroy the contenders and belt holders until he can secure a fight with Sergio.

Problem with that my friend is he has been trying for years to do all those things. Nobody wants to fight him because his name is not Usain Bolt. How good he is has nothing to do with it. And yet everything.

I dunno brother. I have a hard time singing the hard luck song for Golovkin. Any non heavyweight with a name thats hard to pronounce cashing in three HBO dates within seven months is doing alright in the marketability department and far from obscure if you ask me, and I'm sure they will go out of their way to air his showcase in a couple of weeks from BF Morocco of all places (don't tell me they couldnt do better than Ishida?!) He just needs to keep doing what hes doing, do his time on the exposure front and beat people up while honing his game. Jr. may have capitalized off of name but in the end...when it mattered on a grand scale...he layed a big fat egg and got schooled and will be remembered accordingly.

Quillin takes some guff for not fighting him but I think much of it is off the mark. Quillin did and is doing what any young dude would do and is only just now reaping his rewards. He toiled in his hometown, scrambled for exposure on FNF and undercards, got his breakout "scalp" with Winky and is zero fights removed from his title win and huge stage. Hes maximizing his spot as well and I think there is much going on behind the scenes as far as future that we do not know.

Yes, obscurity while fighting on THE prime time boxing network in the world, HBO. Also, having said network feed you showcase opponents that they know you can beat, while working diligently to find you a big money fight.

He's toiling in obscurity in the same way Paul Williams was "the most avoided fighter in the world" while fighting every fight on live TV for the most prestigious boxing network.

On the surface that’s a good point but it’s a tad deceiving. He’s still been playing brides maid while the rest cheat him out of a marquee fight. By the time he gets that marquee fight, there will most likely be no opponent to make it marquee or he will beat up a clearly faded 43 year old Martinez. Ftr my friend I’m not even a fan of his but I can see the slight of hand here. We both know that HBO is a de facto governing body and operate accordingly. They probably have last say on his opponents like many others with contracts. They could very well be a big part of the problem where GGG is concerned.

He’s called out a lot more people then Quillin and as yet failed to get a nibble. The old default excuse of “who’s he” or “whose he fought” often rises to the surface. How convenient. He lives in a world of coddling and padding and wants to take the opposite path and seems to be penalized for it. He’s also close to 31 and has a candle burning at both ends kind of style.
