what happened to Wilder vs Thompson?![]()
Marketing wise Haye has been very cute going in the Jungle ;-).
He came across well and obviously has gained a shitload more public appeal , baring his ass won't have done his female fanbase any harm so on that side of things he's done well.
Inactivity could be his downfall.. Gonna be a whole year out of the ring come July.
If its Thompson hell knock him out and I don't see that being a problem at all.
He should try for 2 fights this year anyway and then keep busy busy.
To be fair like him or hate him he is a good fighter and I.don't see any reason why he can't get himself into a mandatorry slot.
One things guaranteed ....People will start to take note of the Heavyweight division again...
Fuck ... We're already doing it now so his return can only be a good thing for boxing.
I still think he can beat one of the Klits I really do and he must know what he's gotta do when he faces one... Get in range , risk taking big shots and have a fucking tear up.
Best of British to him.
Some people are saying Haye will be fighting Jovo Pudar, the WBA #6 heavyweight.
I think they are talking to several people and haven't decided yet.
I am glad Haye will be fighting again. The reason why he is not active is because he has a vulnerable chin and if he can talk his way into a title fight then the better it is for him. The more he fights the more he risks losing so he prefers to fight once a year so he does not get rusty. Holyfield use to fight infrequently when he was champ so I think he prefers this method.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Looks like Wilder vs Thompson is dead, I'am not surprised.
Wlad has vulnerable chin, you don't hear him barking like Haye.
If Wilder doesn't fight Thompson fine, but move it along...he needs better opposition to challenge him to improve his game.
Haye-Thompson, that's a fight I suggested AGES ago, but noooooo David Haye is "World Class" he doesn't "NEED" to attempt to prepare himself to fight someone big & tall and has good boxing skills. I wouldn't be shocked if Haye gets beat on the cards....remember Haye barely beat Valuev, I rate Thompson as better than that on his best day.
Really want to find out who he will fight. For me there is only a handful I want to see him fight that are actually possible:
Ustinov - beaten by Pulev on his last outing but is a decent bit bigger then Haye that would make him a decent match for him and a fight that Haye should win
Mitchell - similar size to Haye and a decent name in America. Haye definitely the better boxer and should be able to stop him
Charr - another good matchup for Haye in my opinion and a decent name. Last guy to fight Vitali so a win would shoot him up the rankings
Boytsov - unbeaten Russian heavyweight who Fury was suppose to fight but ended up fighting Johnson instead.
Tony Thompson - recently beating Price would mean this fight could sell well in England. Haye too fast for Thompson and cant see him catching Haye like he did Price.
Adamek - Big name and looks to be declining.
Outside of them there are very few people Id actually want to see him fight. I didnt mention guys like Wilder, Fury, Price, Helenius, Pulev etc. as I dont see a fight with them possible for July
Jonathan Banks should be on the list after all he stopped Mitchell, beyond that he's now Wlad's trainer and if Haye wanted to really get at Wlad then wouldn't going through Banks be the best route? You beat Banks up and then you've gotten inside the mind of Wlad's trainer![]()
This is genius. A bit too brilliant plan for Booth though. I was always quite open minded about him but seeing how far backwards Lee went in his first fight with him and how defensively unsound Groves remains I think he is a bit of a confidence trickster. Haye and Groves are explosive enough to cover a lot of flaws but could be even better with more rounded fundamentals.
Haye popularity in UK is vastly overrated.
