He's trying to save face by saying its his wrist. The tank was empty and he had two flat tires under him. And on top of that his wrist could be broken from landing those wide shots on the side of Ricky's titanium skull.I mean you could see that even in the seventh round where he gave his last ditch effort. You could tell he was spent went he walked to the corner and thoroughly discouraged.

Whether is wrist is broken or not is irrelevant. Just makes him look stupid.
Gonzalez was cruising the fight up untill the 7th where he fucked up Ricky... and Ricky managed to land his 1st punch of the fight..he didnt need anything in the tank to win ..just stay on his toes and jab with his good hand ...

It seems too stupid for me that any boxer in that situation would quit ...unless he was told somebody will kill his family if he don't quit ...or being a poor man could of took a bribe ...who knows
...Or he shot his bolt looking for a knockout a couple of rounds earlier and was disheartened at not being able to take his opponent out. You could see his output declined significantly in the 8th and 9th, and his movement slowed considerably. He looked tired.

It's disappointing because he looked top class for the first 7 rounds, and we've seen so many fighters battle on through injuries to see out a win (if indeed he is injured). As in all walks of life though, when the going gets tough some grit their teeth and push on through, others look for the easy way out. Gonzalez took the easy option and I'm sure it's something he'll come to regret for an awfully long time.

I've no doubt he could have carried on, there's countless examples of fighters getting hurt and continuing on. Danny Williams got a last round KO with his shoulder hanging out of his socket ffs. Not everyone has that desire though, I think he was just tired (he'd only been 10 rounds once), and disheartened that when he went for the finish it didn't come and his opponent was happy to trade with him. He barely did anything in rounds 8 and 9, he looked totally spent.

If Jose Gonzales had heart he could be a star. But he doesn't so he won't.
He has made good music in the past though.

He just needs to learn from his mistake. There was no need for him to go for the KO like he did in round 7. He could be thinking he was not getting a decision in Burns hometown tho. He was cruising and should have taken a page out of moneys book and not have risked anything

If he took the concious decision to quit, learn from his mistakes and fight another day a wiser and more complete fighter then he's the smartest pug out there by a mile.

Except that he might have just blown any marketability that he would have had gained from this fight.

Choi was ROBBED. I had it 116-112. At the absolute worst a draw may have been acceptable. Shocking home town decision!

Burns needed every round to draw on my card. He did get a little bit lucky, but its the difference between Burns and the rest of the shit Gonzaleshas fought.

Burns won that fight without throwing a punch.

the fights shows that Broner would beat Burns quite convincingly.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
