Yeah Douglas had everything going for him that night, even lady luck with a rest between rounds to save him. Still he got straight back out there and gave what he was given in spadesafter coping it in clubs
, so you have to give him credit
.
Just like Calzaghe, Lewis was one of the fighters who I got to admire only after retirement..
I wasn't much of a fan of him until I saw his final fight against Vitali, live at the Staples Center. Wow, what a fuckin badass Lewis was man.
He wasn't even in the best shape for that fight and dude came into the ring all dismissive of VItali yet he still kicked ass, even giving Vitali a cut on his eye that was a size of a virgin pussy. And for the record, you vitali fans keep crying that the fight should have continued yada yada and that Vitali would have won... fuckin bullshit man..
Looking at the momentum of the fight, it was pretty clear to me that Lewis was gonna knock that zombie out in the very next round..
Looks what Vitali has become today. He's become this unbeatable giant yet an out-of-shape Lewis who wasn't even fully prepared for him fucked him up!! ON top of that, it's been decade ago when Vitali was alot younger..
That speaks volumes about the man.
Lennox Lewis a legend and he would have beaten everybody in the history of Boxing H2H..
FOrget the Dempseys and the JOhnsons of the world.. He would have knocked Joe Louis' ass out in 4 rounds or less and Dempsey couldnt get in the same ring with him.. Dempsey couldnt hold Lewis' jockstrap really.
Lennox Lewis would have tore Ali a new asshole and same with Frazier..
Only boxers in the history of Boxing who could have competed with the great Lewis was a prime George Foreman and Larry Holmes..
...tell that to McCall and Rahman.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Ever fighter has off days but lewis erased his with the rematch at least that is why i rate him so highly. I mean it is no worse then Louis losing to Max which was pretty bad lost totally just outclassed but also avenged as well. I mean That is what makes fighters great when they can comeback form a lose. I mean Holyfeild avenged the Bowie lose and Moorer lose, Ali avenged Frazier loss and many others. I have hard time with Tyson his loses when he was younger were Douglas which i guess you might have a point master. Then Holyfield kicked his ass he came in pretty pumped for the rematch was losing again to Holyfeild then bit his fucking ear off. Tyson lacked what Ali, Louis, Holyfeild and Lewis had which was the mental toughness and the hart to comback and avenge losses and not just fold and lay down when it was all said and done.

This thread is asking for criticism of Lennox Lewis, so don't think that these points are ALL I think about Lewis, because he had many many good and plus points too. But, here goes:
- Lewis was not a true fighter. He was a magnificent athlete who became a boxer. That's why he won the fights he won and lost the fights he lost
- he got away with technical deficiencies because of his size and athleticism
- he knew his chin wasn't the best, and sometimes fought 'gun shy', so he was not always entertaining
- he was lucky, in that Tyson and Holyfield were both shot by then, Bowe avoided him and Klit was still up and coming, and too green to be a real threat. He was around between eras really.
- He was amazingly lucky to cut Vitali, because he was going to lose that fight
- whenever I see him on TV these days, I am awestruck by how egotistical and arrogant he is
How's that for starters?
