I love boxing but that is a steep price to pay. What recession?

MAkes sense I guess, it's really an inelastic demand when it comes down to it. People who will buy a PPV wont mind shelling out a little more, people that will whine to the heavens about it would've never bought it in the first place. I fall into neither category for the record, just hope I can find a good stream

If the undercard are good I guess that is not a horrible price. If you get a group of friends together and kick in a few bucks it is a good time. I don't have many friends interested enough to get the fight so I'll watch it on Showtime a week or two after the fight. Anybody know what Canelos take for this fight is. I would guess he is getting close to two million but that is a guess

You will see nothing on HBO replay. Mayweather-Alvarez is on SHOWTIME.

I'm guessing 5 million guarantee, Cotto got 8 million, Guerrero and Ortiz got 3 million dollar guarantee. I think 10 million is possible for Canelo. I feel lucky to be in Texas the house was packed for Floyd's Ortiz and Cotto fight and the JMM-Pac fights.

Keep forgetting he jumped ship, but for that bank they'll show it. Now if either gets a dramatic eye popping ko...I'll be po'd.

Wow, I wasn't thinking the numbers would be that big. Good for Canelo, young guy, seems nice. If he has a good showing the sky's the limit. If he could make this rematch worthy, that would be the shit.
You are right. Nice having a house full of friends watching a fight together. To me, it blows away the Super bowl, I know that sounds extreme but it's true

They are charging that much, because the dumb asses at Showtime gave a guaranteed contract to Mayweather for his fights. They lost money on his last fight, because it didn't even do a million buys, so they need to make sure they make money, and recoup some of their losses from the last fight.

That's probably why the fight ticket prices were so high, and they raised the closed circuit ticket price from the normal $50 to $100. They will probably charge more if they show it in movie theaters as well.

Sometimes I think people prefer complaining to watching boxing.
if they spent less money on broads that arent give them any, maybe theyd be willing to pay for the ppv. I mean come one guys, like it or not, this is a superfight, cuz people who dont give a shit about boxing will be watching.

Canelo is on a reported $12m if the PPV breaks 1.6m

Floyd is on a $40m guarantee regardless ()

I do not think that is true, if Floyd is guaranteed $40 million he would have taken an easier opponent at welterweight, it must have something in the contract that depends on PPV buys.

    PS

The fight should be free on NBC sports

Floyd signed a contract that guaranteed him 32 million regardless of who he fought, he made that when he fought Guerrero that's why Showtime lost 12 million despite the fight making over 45 million. Showtime probably guranteed him 40 million because they have a chance to make 20 million dollars or so if the fight sales over 1.5

Yeah I would imagine the guarantee is without taking into account how many PPVS sell, although Mayweathers share of that revenue must be considerably less than it would be otherwise . Either way considering that Showtime lost money on the Guerrero fight, I'm sure some of the top men over there had ways to make this fight happen. It always struck me as absurd that they gave Floyd that kind of contract regardless of who he fights, they must have made sure there were some strings attached.
