    Default Wilder vs....

I think Deontay Wilder is turning up. He has shown he can stop aged and experienced fighters, as well as he has shown that he can stop younger and hungrier guys- Kelvin Price is one of those guys.

But it's time for Wilder to turn it up some more. So, I want to see Wilder vs:
    Arreola
    Stiverne
    Jennings
    Chagaev
    Haye
    Fury
    Thompson

He can't go back now. He has shown us that he is a cut above the mediocre and average. He has to turn up even more. I would also consider experienced fights vs:
Shannon Briggs (who can take a punch and is a solid counter puncher)
James Toney (who may school the lad IF he can't mix it up, as Toney is a shoulder roller and brilliant counter-puncher)

But he can't go back now... he has to go forward. Within 2-3 fights, he HAS to be in for the title. HAS TO BE!

Kevin Johnson would be a perfect opponent because he has mediocre power and a concrete chin that absorbed Fury and Klitchko's best shots.

And I thought British posters over hyped there fighters. DDDDDDDDD

I look forward to Deontay stepping up, but those fighters are still a different league to the dross he has fought.
As for a title in 2-3 fights, I do not see it happening.

I forgot about Johnson. And you're right with that too.

Win, lose or draw, Fury has made a fan out of me. Truly!!

Wilder v Arreleo or Adamek would ensure he goes past round 4.

What about Odlanier Solis? Has come back with a few wins and has a style that could help...or maybe upset...Wilder more than just hammering old nails like Briggs, Quinn and a Toney who frankly needs to just go away.

His people have been calling Wilder out.

    Shannon Briggs and Toney?? Really??

Briggs firstly is retired and hasn't fought for a few years.

Toney is a decade past what should have been his retirement, I reckon Wilder would kill Toney inside a few rounds. There's a reason he's fighting nobody's now, he can fight them and not worry about a youngster like Wilder bombing him for 10 rounds.

Needs to be someone like Arreola. Kevin Johnson would be my bet though!

Arreola and Mitchell is pretty much happening last I read, kind of a waste. I don't care to see Kevin Johnson fight anyone, he's such a timid flower puncher that I'm not sure I couldn't go 12 rounds with him, that proves dick all. No different than a Dominick Guinn or somebody like that, we don't need to see a guy go rounds in a televised sparring session just because he hasn't had to, an opponent who will punch him is what Wilder needs. Arreola would have been a perfect test, but he's tied up like most everyone in the OP. Jennings or Chagaev are the only 2 who don't have a fight that I know of, either would be great to obviously.

Briggs hasn't retired... he's not looking for a fight, but a fight can be made. Toney will certainly take him into the later rounds and test his boxing ability. We want to see his boxing ability, not his punching power- which is evident.

This Solis fight is a good idea. Has the pedigree. Plus, Solis himself hasn't been tested to any great extent.

Solis is far too dangerous for Wilder imo. He needs someone like Chisora, or if he could, Helenius. Other then that he should stick to another US fighter

I think that's why they're calling him out. It would just be along the lines of what he needs. Solis or Johnson are a different look but lack the visibility or network push. Chris and Mitchell are as predictable as they come and have had the polish taken off but technically make good sense. Johnson could sharpen Wilder mentally as much as physical but could also just keep his hands in his pockets like v Vitali. Likewise Solis but is a much more respectable threat. Just feels like a fun styles fight.

The thing is with him fighting an opponent with a chin is that we will see if he has stamina and is able to go rounds or maybe do something the other fighters couldn't do and knock him (Johnson or Guinn) senseless to raise his stock even more. Carlos Takam could be a decent test for him also.

Well there lies the problem with Wilders career, he should already know these things about himself. He's now been a pro for five years, televised a whole bunch of times and has just fought two very recognizable opponents and blown them out in the first. Now he needs to see if he can go 12 rounds against a punching bag? It's completely backwards, especially given the state of the American HW scene.

Even if he doesn't have a glass jaw and he can actually fight, the way he's been groomed won't help him whatsoever when he actually has to prove it. Whether a big fraud or not, he would be a better fighter today had he taken on a single credible, durable opponent before he was getting prime TV slots.

We want to see him in a dangerous fight. It's time. I forgot about Helenius- he doesn't want to fight the big fights. Helenius is another Brian Neilsen to me- someone who's just there.
