Apparently the Rios fight plan was to go, get beat up, then hope the check is good. Garcia stole $400K from Rios, he didn't do his job. What was the plan? He couldn't counter with his hands in front of his face and never once made an aggressive move to turn it into the type of fight he needed if he was going to win. Have they given up on Rios as a fighter, cashed it in, or is there no one in his camp boxing smart enough to make him competitive in that fight?
You fight Pac and you have to take away that move to the right- marquez is savvy enough to draw him in and counter and play it that way, to offset his speed, most aren't. Rios needed to make it a fight and to do that he needed to take away that escape route. But he never once made a strong move with his feet to keep Pac in front of him. When Pac goes to his left, he doesn't like to punch (though he will when he realizes that you are just going to put your hands in front of your face and let him), he goes that way then spins back out to his right.
You have to step up with your left foot and throw the left hook, block that escape route and keep him lined up for the right hand. Early on when Rios pushed him to the ropes and Pac grabbed, they just accepted that as ok; his corner should have told him to throw Pac on the floor and spit at him. Let him know that he has to fight you. his only chance was to make it a fight and Rios didn't come to fight.

Great fight. But the difference in class shows up AFTER the fight. Manny goes around and congratulates the entire Rios camp on a good show. Then he does a classy interview. Rios and his puffed up face claims he never felt Pac's power, and decides to pick a fight with Max instead.

    Par for the course.

you guys are a bunch of dicks!
lets see one of you take flush shots to the face for twelve rounds and feel jolly and good at the end.
max's question was condescending and rios called him out on it. max showed no respect and didn't have the balls to back his own words up.

i picked pac to win by ko so i'm impressed that rios went the distance taking all that punishment.

We don't get paid what Rios got paid. Getting interviewed is part of the job description.

Rios' big mistake was getting Ariza instead of Heredia... Without a guardian angel overseeing extra preparations, Bam Bam soon enough found out how inadequate he was and had to borrow Joshua Clottey's play book--digging deep unto a survival kit of to do's and dont's.

Did anybody else notice that, while Pac has some pop in his punches, he never sets down and really turns on anything?

Cant believe they gave Rios a few rds when tallied. Rios looked like both his feet were nailed to the floor. Like watching oil pour at -30
I had a clean sweep. Contgrats to Pac he clearly exposed Rios for what he is ... a tough mid level caliber knuckle head fighter with little skills / movement and a trainer that took a vacation in Macau. Impressive show but it "DOES NOT WARRANT" a Mayweather fight. It warrants a Prod, Bradley or Garcia match. Only a win over Garcia will earn Pac a match with Money despite a desperate HBO clamoring for the fight. Besides if it ever does take place it will be on Showtime.

I did. He never made a move to "close to show" with Rios, content to just land a few shots and move. And when I think about other Pacquiao fights, he has always been a more methodical finisher, letting fighters wither from the accumulation of punches whether than just throwing the kitchen sink at them after landing a good shot.

Rios is still a punk. A very very tough punk though.

I'd like to see Rios take the Randall Bailey right hand then smile and talk shit.

Tough enough to walk around getting slapped around, but too much of a punk to try and win the fight.

Congrats to Pacman. I'm sure Rios vs Alvarado 3 or even Ruslan Provodnikov will happen next year and Pacman should still pursue Money May but I'm sure it won't happen.

I don't blame Rios for getting angry with Kelllerman, because the subtext of the question he asked was "tell us in your own words why you weren't just a punching bag out there, because it sure looked like it to anyone who was watching the fight". Rios was little more than a heavybag out there, but it is disrespectful to bring it up to a guy right after a fight.

Fight went just like I figured it would (minus a stoppage for Pacquaio). Rios could have had Angelo Dundee, Ray Arcel and Eddie Futch training him, it wouldn't have made a difference. He isn't equipt to deal with a Pacquaio. He was a carefully selected opponent for a gaurenteed impressive Pacquaio performance. A highly ranked guy who was tailor made for Pac. No big surprise.

Personally, I wish he had knocked Kellerman on his ass. If Rios was Puerto Rican, Kellerman would have been falling all over him.
I don't have anything against Puerto Ricans, but I don't like journalists or color men who think they can say anything they want and never get called out for it.
I was feeling good last night, RJJ was hammering Max all night and Rios stood him up at the end.
I'm a Manny fan, I wanted him to win, I'm glad he won and his post fight comments were what I expected.
I like Rios too, his fights with Alvarado were great, but he is Mexican from a Mexican gym so you are not going to hear any 'We are the World' stuff come out of his mouth. When Rios said, referring to Manny, "His speed bothered me a little." that was a HUGE admission for him.
It's who he is, coming from the culture he grew up in, and I respect it. You don't have to respect it but you should try to understand it, because it's not going to change any time soon.
By the way, I used to be a Kellerman fan, but he's turning into a younger version of Larry 'The Pompous Ass' Merchant.
Hey, I feel much better now! Hahaha
