Where does Toney go from here?

Well, in the wake of Toney's "loss" to Sam Peter what do you think Toney should do?

Here are some options.

1) Perhaps a rematch with Peter

2) He hasn't managed to get a decision in his last 2 fights, so should he perhaps hang up the gloves?
He isnt getting any younger at 38. And what with his eating habits and recent injuries. Maybe this
is a suitable option

3) Possibly a rematch with Rahman. But considering Rahmans desperate loss to Maskaev would this
really be a feasible option?

I dont know really, its too soon since the fight for me to think straight. What do you guys think concerning the future of James Toney?

Thats the thing though. I was hoping this would be the fight where Toney came in more trim and it was just 4 pounds less than last time. Approaching his 40's does Toney really have that discipline anymore? The only thing that concerned me in this fight was Peter's power and Toney took it relatively well. It seems Toney didnt deserve to lose, but I would have thought Toney would have been able to box smart and win more rounds than he did...

If Toney's dedication could be believed then I would be all for a rematch or even for throwing him in there with Wlad....Its all down to Toney at the end of the day...

Coming down 4 pounds is an acheivement. I think if he keeps working that consistant pace then he is going to come down even more. Like if he stays consistant as the training camp for this fight. That PLUS he's pissed. Peter is in trouble if they ever get into the ring again but Dino "Dinosaur" Duva probably won't let that happen because he knows whats up!

Agreed about Peter. I dont think his camp will want a part of Toney now, not so much because they fear Toney, but because they will be wanting their title shot. Toney's search for a title shot now becomes somewhat restricted....

I would like to watch the fight, probably will later....that will certainly have an impact on my thought...

Toney should try to protest the decision like he said and Toney-Peter II should happen soon. Even if not very soon, I'm sure that Peter will lose the championship match. Goosen should look to see who else Toney could fight. Now, what Toney should do is to think seriously about even getting into better shape. There is no way that he should retire. As for Peter, he will probably get his shot at Maskaev and to be honest I think Peter would beat him up. Peter is very limited though. Its just his power that he carries with him...

James Toney is yesterday's news and to have him win this fight would allow him to string out a half-hearted heavyweight carrer. I think Oleg Maskaev loses to either man, but Peter has a future ahead of him and Toney doesn't.

To me it only seems like a robbery because of the huge point spread (and because Sam Peter sprinted to the dressing room). If they had Peter winning by slimmer margin I don't see a reason to complain at all.

Peter wasn't even close to winning. This is just as bad as why Jermain Taylor got the nod to Bernard Hopkins. It shows how many don't respect the older fighters even when they win.
