Winky beat our British fighters very easily and when Shane decided to fight him I knew he would be too big, strong and good for Shane. Although Winky was the under dog at the time because he was not well known in the US and had to fight abroad.

Yea... you just wanted to see it. Now I see why they hid it for so long- it was so one sided, so disappointing for Trinidad, that it not only broke his spirit but changed his earning potential.

    lololol...

Lets not get carried away here. Hopkins took Tito's heart and everything after that was King cashing out. Winky Wright did not break his spirit. It would have been nice to see Winky, Ike and Tito all go at it in their primes but it was just not to be. Winky also beat Ike at 160 convincingly but that's not evidence for what would have taken place at 47 or 54.
Taking someone's heart is not equivalent to taking someone's earning potential. While Hopkins did beat Trinidad, Trinidad's earning power was not diminished. This was a financially debilitating loss to an un-observed and, to boxing bloodhounds, a boring fighter in the name of Winky Wright.

Winky took it all out of him this time. All out of him. He had nothing after this to give. Nothing. When Hopkins beat him, he had something left... at least Hopkins was favoured to win by many... Winky wasn't expected to win or even compete...
Get your facts straight Hopkins was a 2 to 1 underdog, winky vs tito was damn near a pick em fight, if my memory serves me correct tito was only a -130 favorite vs winky. And for the record B Hop did affect his earning power because tito was supposed to fight RJJ but B Hop knocked him out and stopped all of that. Not to mention Tito retired after that fight and he was totally exposed. All Winky did was follow B Hops blueprint in a 12 rd jabfest shutout...B Hop crushed him, exposed him, and stopped him with one of the best counter punches u will ever see.

Felix was completely unmotivated there, it was SO obvious. He was not there to win, just to participate. Overall, the fight is quite poor

Odds came closer to fight night that Hopkins was the favourite. Re-watch the footage and they say so.

I don't know why people picked Trinidad to win that fight vs. Hopkins anyways? Tito was smaller and really couldn't box very well- he robbed De La Hoya, got a gift vs. Whitaker, dodged Shane Mosely and crushed a one-eyed David Reid.

You either weren't a boxing fan then or just don't want to remember the facts. Tito was coming off of the complete annihilation of Joppy, Vargas, and Reid. He was heavily favored through the first bell. When Ring magazine conducted their poll prior to the fight, only 2 of 20 "experts" predicted Hop would win, and most predicted he would be stopped in the later rounds. Hop put on the best performance of the decade in that fight, when u consider Titos punch, skill, prime, n p4p ranking/status at the time of the fight. Hop did every single thing u expect a pro fighter to do. Showed great heart, skill, punch, chin, jabbed, lead with the right, worked the body, boxed, brawled, controlled the center of the ring, boxed off the ropes, countered, kept up a fast pace, showed stamina, and closed the show. Complete domination and an ATG performance that completely ruined Tito. It's funny when u look back at how many fighters where never the same after fighting hop, even if they won the fight.

Listen up Johnie Come-Lately.... Hopkins was favoured by fight night. In fact, some oddsmakers had it for a late KO by Hopkins.

I'm not saying he wasn't coming off of big wins, but he sure wasn't favoured against Hopkins- not on fight day and fight night.

No actually your wrong hopkins opened up around +270 and closed at +200 and this is a FACT because bernard was given 100k to advertise a gambling website on his trunks, he then took the 100k and bet it on himself as a 2 to 1 underdog on the day of the fight. The Tito hype was in full effect at the time and everyone was overlooking B Hop in anticipation of a Big Money fight between Tito and Roy Jones, but B Hop stopped all that by executing Tito.

Tito was favored up to the first bell, although the spread did close due to some late betting. Hop was never favored in that fight, the Pavilik fight, or the Tarver fight. All were favored to win by at least 2-1 margins. Sorry my man. I'm sure u had a point u really wanted to make...

Also, Tito dominated Whitaker. Pea was well past his prime and I think things would have been different had they fought sooner, but Tito won that fight with no controversy. Also, Tito was a very good boxer earlier in his career. Like Pavilik and other big punchers though, he fell in live with the knockout and forgot to do the other things in boxing (jab, head movement, slip, parry...etc.). Just curious, were u a fan of the sport back then or did u just start watching the past few years? Not trying to insult u, just wondering because ur post makes it seem like u don't know that much from that point in time.

    He also ducked Quartey.

The Whitaker fight was no gift.

I'm no fan of Trinidad, but he didn't ducked Mosley as someone here said. If memory serves me right, Trinidad went to 154 around 2000 while Mosley had just came up into the 147 division to fight Oscar. And the Whitaker fight was no gift, Pernell was just past his prime and too coked up to put up a fight against Trinidad.

Seems to me that there is a lot of revisionist history here concerning both Hopkins and Trinidad. It's not just those 2 but a lot of the popular fighters as well, where fans like to omit or exaggerate stuff.

Mosley was set to fight Winky Wright when him and Trinidad came to an agreement. Everybody expected Mosley to pull out of the Winky Wright fight. But Mosley being the nice guy/dumb ass that he is didn't want to do that to Winky. So he went ahead with the fight. He lost to Wright. And he lost the Trinidad fight

Trinidad's loss to Winky was probably his worst showing as a pro fighter. It is what it is. Every fighter has a "best fight" of his career.... and a "worst fight" of his career. His three career losses were against whom. Hopkins, Wright, RJJ. All future HOFers. And all three naturally bigger fighters. In addition, Wright was widely recognized as having a tremendous defense as one of his better traits. Trinidad's best weights were 147 and 154. What he did at MW was remarkable, especially the unforeseen demolition of William Joppy. Claims of ducking are ridiculous. Par for the course for haters, who will dredge up similar claims for anyone else they hate. It is what it is. Hate if you must... but don't distort facts to make your point.

I only got round to watching the Trinidad Whittaker and Oscar Chavez fights a year or so ago and despite the older, smaller man loosing in both fights... I realised that The smaller guys, overall were probably much better prime for prime.
