Default If Mayweather doesn't fight on a Mexican Holiday - how will his PPVs do?

It looks like one of the main reasons Canelo went to HBO was to be able to fight on Mexican holidays in May and September. Given that reports have Mayweather's last PPV doing 772K buys, what type of numbers can he do if he doesn't fight in May or September?

I don't see why it should make a difference unless he were actually fighting an established Mexican attraction, but then he has made a point of fighting on those dates regardless so it could very well. Maidana is Argentinean, do you think that many Mexicans only bought the fight because of the date? I guess the only way to know is to wait and see if he fights at another time, but I have a feeling his PPV numbers will continue to drop either way unless he fights Pacquiao..

Were did you read 772k buys it's over 900k they numbers are very good for the card and opponent.

I think Canelo, with the right opponent, can get 500k ppv buys. Notice I said the right opponent.

Mexican National Holiday's are about family/bros gathering (like a picnic party) and part of that is watching the fights, which we learned from Oscar. So I think is safe to say that having a fight on a National holiday day, will "improve" any fighter's numbers.

I hope Floyd is forced to fight decent opponents and challenges himself by fighting outside his comfort zone for picking these enormous cheques. I want him to fight Cotto, Quillin or GGG.

I don't know exactly what, you're trying to say, but when it comes to PPV Floyd is where it's at. Floyd, and his 0, are the main draws especially now, towards the end of his career
With the right undercard his PPV numbers will be good, whoever his opponent is. The guy knows how to sell PPV, absolutely no question about that. He doesn't need a Mexican holiday to do it either, although it definitely helps.
He's like a very experienced miner working a familiar mine, he knows the best, fastest, and safest way to get the ore out and the money into his pocket. He knows how to work that PPV gold mine! Yes, I'm telling you Floyd is a miner.

Showtime doesn't release PPV numbers so there is no way to be sure, but the rumor is that it did 772.

Rick Glaser called the exact number for the Guerrero, Maidana I and Canelo. I imagine he's correct here too.

When was the last time Floyd didn't fight on Cinco De Mayo or Mexican Independence Day? Ricky Hatton in 2007. It's very important to the buy rate or he wouldn't do it then. Why do you think Canelo wants to take back those dates?
