Just before that big left-hook, Roy had sent Earnie's mouthpiece flying into Ken Norton's lap,
who was sitting at Ringside broadcasting the bout with Tom Brookshier.
If anybody questioned Earnie's chin before this bout.......

AT <0:50> SECONDS WHEN Roy misses that uppercut, I got the feeling ~all~ his energy was sapped and started to drain out of him. Did Earnie sense this? Did this missed uppercut let Earnie realize that Roy had just pretty much run out of gas?

Roy Williams had last fought back on April 30, 1976 > {L Dec 10 to Larry Holmes}.
Roy had not fought in 7 1/2 months, and he was also not accustomed to a 'fast-pace'.
Roy liked to fight 'steady and slow', with very few punch-bursts.
His legs looked very weakened here at the {1:00 Mark}.
