I'll save my comments on this until I see some kind of conformation.

If I were GGG I'd stay the hell away from this fight. It's a LOSE-LOSE all the way. What does he have to gain? Absolutely nothing. He wins... he beat a 50-year old fighter. He loses... he'll have ridicule piled on his head. It's not like he needs any more detractors than he already has. There's plenty of fights to be made out there. BHop should fight his one last fight and retire. I'm sure there's a nice TV commentator job lined up somewhere for him.

No one is slating Kovalev for fighting Hopkins and he was arguably the bigger man.

Lets not write the old old dog off just yet.

I suspect this will be at a catch weight of some sort that really favors Bernard.

Winky Wright and Kelly Pavlik took the bait and it did not end well for them.

Love Hopkins and like GGG a lot as well so this one would be very interesting.
I think skillwise GGG wouls win anyways, but with the power he'll beat him quite a bit.

If he can carry it up that is. This has to be made as a super MW fight imo.

GGG is stupid to take this fight. He can not win, even if he wins and it will not further his claim to superstardom that he relishes. Not a smart move if the fights happen.

I like that they're both willing to take a challenge but I'm not sure what winning the fight does for either fighter. GGG wins he beat up a 49 year old man. If Hopkins wins he outclassed a much smaller guy. Hopkins Super-Middleweight Title idea was better for his final fight because he's actually adding to his legacy if he wins it. He wanted Froch but it aint gunna happen now. If Degale is available I think it's a better choice of opponent. I bet Oscar has put this dumbass idea in his head.

    Yeah I'm sure you are

GGG has far better ring generalship than Kovalev. Takes up better positions and has better timing and patience. Hopkins will try to smother and holds but at his age, his physicality is diminished and so his efforts will fail.

If this fight took place prior to Kovalev it would garner some excitement. Hopkins still has gas in the tank but not for someone like GGG. Still, I'd watch it.

    Ward could fight Hopkins.

Ward still wants another tune up, he is still not sure what weight he will continue at. I'd like to see the fight but I don't see it happening next.

I also believe Golovkin could be the first to stop Hopkins. But I'll be supporting B-Hop as I quit picking against him a long time ago.

I really don't see a problem with it should it materialize, though I did have to think twice. Fair play to Golovkin as it will be a sizable jump in weight..something all of his detractors have been screaming for... a big step up in comp and a smart play for high profile exposure with a legend. Also if anyone was a blueprint for a spoiler with every trick in the book and a few the ref does not like similar to Ward in the future..its Hopkins! We cannot expect Golovkin to sit around beating up inferior middles and champions who will not fight as a legitimate middleweight forever. Lets see what happens and if it comes to form and what weight we're talking, but its not atrocious.

First you have to applaud Bernard Hopkins cojones for even thinking about fighting GGG
Thats the two most dangerous punchers & most feared fighters active today. Just imagine if Mayweather had cojones one quarter the size of Bernards he just might make ATG status
I hope in my heart this fight does not materialize. Don't forget B Hop would be FIFTY years old fighting the worlds most feared fighter. Nard has the skills but he cannot go on for ever. He has nothing left to prove he could retire today with the fantastic ATG legacy Mayweather only wishes he could have. Please do not do it Bernard
    Keep on Punchin"
