No problem with the performance. He did what he had to do and no more. I didn't like the bravado, though, and I didn't like the unsportsing conduct at the end. Barrera is a gentleman and it is so out of character for him to react like that to someone who has not disrespected him.

He went down in my estimation. Sad that one of my favourite fighters has really hurt his reputation, as far as I'm concerned. My dad, another huge Barrera fan, walked out because of the bravado of pointing to his chin and goading Juarez in a very Naz-like manner.

What happened to the Barrera who is all business, who gets hit and remains expressionless?
    what happen to barrera?

his true colors came out when pac gave him a beating...remember he hit pac on the breaks and really tried to headbutt pac...sad I use to have mighty respect for mab butta pac ruin him...not just whooped him bad mab made it worst by being a bad loser...but I'm glad he won tonight...

a rematch with pac I doubt he would want...he should hang it up on a good win like this...pac would destroy him worst then before...pac got so much better, mab just got a year older every punch pac landed on him...
In the post fight interview MAB was gracious enough to flat out say that Pac was the man at that division and showed respect. I think the rematch is going to happen. It has to.

Barrera is carefully plotting out the rest of his career and there's no way he would let a rematch his Pac not happen regardless of Pac-Morales 3 (Which Erik will invariably lose.)

Naz and Barerra had been hanging out at the fights before Naz went to jail haven't they? maybe a little rubbed off on him. I wish I saw it

I think it was his response to Rocky talking trash and trying to get him to stand and trade. Rocky kept making gestures like he wanted him to fight, and tried to push him around in the ring. I think Rocky said something to him at the end of the fight. Even the interview Rocky said MAB didn't come to fight tonight, he just smothered me every time I tried to hit him, he wouldn't trade with me, etc....

I think Rocky was frustrated cause he was beaten convincingly, and he was trying to goad MAB into exchanges.

Agreed. And Barrera just goaded him back. Barrera was pristine out there. It wasnt a thriller or a classic, but a very effective performance from a very wily, tough pro...

A beautiful beautiful boxing performance and I'm glad he gave Juarez some mouth,I felt Rocky was rude in some of his comments about the first fight, especially considering he firstly did not deserve a shot and secondly MAB did not have to give him a rematch. MAB is an absolute legend and seems like a very nice guy too and hey,Rocky learnt to respect his elders!

    Very well said.

I see no disgrace in Barrera acting the way he did out there. Juarez has been less than graceful to Barrera and MAB was just rubbing it back into Juarez's face. Most humiliating for Juarez was surely the fact that he couldnt win any rounds (despite what those despotic judges might have been drinking!!)....

Not a classic, but I enjoyed the fight....

CC back old man,how comes I have not seen you posting often anymore?! Those judges were asses, imagine, had they given Juarez 1 round more, peeps would be thinking it was a super close fight again! I'm glad,Juarez should have show more respect outside the ring and been grateful to the legend for giving him a shot but he was not and was taught a lesson,a deserved lesson.

Im around, just not posting as much at the moment. I had an incident with my hand which meant I couldnt type as quickly for a week. On the mend now though. Also just organising moving home and Ive just changed jobs. Been a bit busy really. Im also going back home for a few weeks at the end of this month. After that I will be back and posting as I always did....just you watch!!

Juarez was completely lacking in all areas really. It kinda reminded me of Calzaghe: lacy really. Juarez was just never really into the fight, despite many out there saying he would beat the older champ...

It wasnt to be!! Maybe we have 2 more big fights left in "old" MAB....

All this tapping of the chin isnt a disgrace on Barrera infact I was glad to see him get a little nasty in there . Juarez was the one who throughout the fight was goading Barrera . Barrera just did al ittle showboating himslef in the last 10 seconds as if to say " theres my answer. wasnt close this time was it "

I knew Barrera would win it easy cuz he was ready this time .

Barrera has done that in many fights, this isnt the first...

Comments made by Juarez after the first match, regardless of whether we found them nopt offensive, apparently Barrera did.

The Rocky comments after the first fight WERE offensive. I hate Barrera and the Rocky comments even offended ME! haha

That's why I rooted for Barrera for the first time last night.

Rocky is just an ingrate who got lucky twice, once for supposedly "controversial" decision, and the second to have a chance to fight Barrera again. EVEN NOW Rocky is talking trash.

Rocky has all the tools and more to become a CHAMPION, but he doesn't have the mentality of a fighter, he doesn't have the "killer instinct," so to speak. This wouldn't bother me that much, because not every man is a boxer, BUT BUT Rocky started saying that he really did beat up Barrera and that Barrera was the one that was LUCKY!! Pshh!!!

That's such bullshyte! In the first fight Rocky, for which I was rooting for Rocky, he had SO MANY Opportunities to beat the shyte outta Barrera EVEN threaten to Knock him out, but the kid fought like it was just any other round.

El Game, you called it yah in 24. I'm glad you were right to, because now we can have Barrera vs Pacquiao or Morales!

Another thing, Had Barrera come in that shape for Jesus Chavez, he would have been TKO'd! haha Jesus killed a man with his fists! (That sentence sounds crazy!) Chavez would have been ready for that fight and Barrera was in such bad shape that night that Chavez would have taken advantage. So Rocky was right, Barrera WAS LUCKY, lucky he fought Rocky instead of Chavez.

I agree.. to be honest I was dissapointed when I heard MAB was fighting Juarez the first time.. Then I thought MAB won the fight by at least 2 or 3 rounds, which many didn't, so I was dissapointed that Barerra gave him the rematch.. To me, Juarez was never worthy of fighting Barrera, nor was he skilled enough, it's just a shame it took Marco 2 fights to show people that, let's hope he still goes for another mega fight before hanging them up. And about him tapping his chin and all that, well, I don't see anything wrong with that stuff ever... If a fighter is clowning or taunting, it's the opponents job to do something about it, the fact that Rocky couldn't just proved Barerra had completely discouraged and befuddled him.

Owe you in 24 too Gyro, good points and yeah,I nailed this one repeatedly. I just thought we saw the best of Juarez and the worst of MAB in the first fight and no way was it close in the way the judges state. There were,as per usual, deficiencies in their scorecards. Juarez did nothing to get the first shot and certainly did nothing in the rematch and sitll, reading the post fight press conference quotes, not once do I hear an ounce of respect. All I hear is I came to fight,he would not fight,he ran:kid it's the art of hitting but not getting hit yourself, the sweet science. I was pissed that 2 judges had it so close and I was pissed at the press conference of people interrupting, saying MAB ran etc Ingrate fookers.

I'll tell you the stupidest thing, Juarez is a supposed silver meddalist in Olympics or something?! That shows how significant that in comparison to proffesional ranks. I'm not hating Rocky fans, this is constructive criticism,he should have the basics on lockdown,it was the fight of his life, and I saw no Mexican heart,no willingness to go that extra mile and take what MAB had ,no decent movement or defence to avoid jabs, nothing. He's short, compact puncher, that's it.Not much else. If I were him,I'd take a serious look at myself,2 BIG BIG shots, leave it all one the line man!!

I'm just slightly bitter over his lack of respect despite getting beaten twice clearly and still not having 1 good thing to say.

CC p4pKing, agreed. And El Gamo, that dishonesty to the fans and to himself, he'll never improve. He's only going to hurt himself. If he keeps that up he'll just be a gatekeeper to the belt, much like a Chop Chop Corely, heh. Except Rocky has that one punch power to save him from being AS BORING as Corely. But he has that mentality as Corely, maybe even worse.
