Gatti belongs in the Hall of Sold A Lot of Tickets In New Jersey but not the Hall of Fame.

At no point in his career did he distinguish himself as a dominant fighter.

He was middling as a very good fighter waiting for a signature victory. He got a shot against DLH and was promptly sent to bitch school. Shortly after he fought Ward, who announced he would retire after the fight and lost. After that trilogy he fought the Italian champ, then the Romanian champ, then a badly aged Leija who announced he would retire after the fight, then a severe ass whupping by Floyd, then beating the Danish champ before being put to sleep by the lucky stiff Baldomir.

Do you see a Hall of Fame resume emerging? Congradualations, Castanota now houses the special olympics.

Gatti will probably make it in for his name recognition, not for his abilities.

I am not trying to insult anyone here. I don't think a lot of you understand what the HOF is or how a fighter is inducted. It seems that most of you are under the opinion that it has to do with how many fights you have won or big names you have beaten...HOF is somehow being confused with P4P...

To be inducted into the hall of fame you must have contributed to the sport in a memorible or positive was as well as your accomplishments. Accomplishment are important yes but not the main criteria. You are judged by amount of fights You have had. Your courage in the ring, The way you conductuded yourself and what you have contributed to the sport.....Guys like George Chuvalo and Gaspar Ortega are in the HOF because of their never give up styles and memorible performences...Gatti surley has given the sport many memorible moments...
He has two world titles in two weight classes...Fight of the year honors...He was always a huge draw not just in Atlantic City but anywhere in the world. His heart is un questionable. When he wins he wins big and when he looses he does it bigger. There is not a fan out there who can say Gatti has not given them an exciting night of Boxing. Or a memorible fight. He has always been a role model to kids and never disgraced the sport of boxing. In truth it is a shame we don't have more guys like Gatti in our sport now or throughout history....It's the HOF guys again not hall of best fighters.....S%$# if Fargin Ryan Seacrest can get a star on Hollywoods walk of fame Gatti is surley worthy of a HOF ballot?...I am not a huge fan of Arturos but the guy has paid his dues...
