Default Just watched Mayweather v Corrales

Just watched it and Mayweather looked fantastic very good show he put on against a very good fighter surely gonna be hard to stop this guy..

He said on the interview afterwards he wanted to fight Prince Naseem Hammed that was 2001 so I understand there is no chance of that happining but if he was chatting then about fighting him would this not mean it would also be possible for him to fight guys like Pacman Barrera or Morales...

He was at 130 then... I don't think he had many fights there afterwards, so no... At that time MAB and Morales were probably at 122 or maybe just moving up to featherweight, and Manny wasn't even a name fighter.. Imagine how bad Floyd would have embaressed Naz though, it makes me laugh thinking about it.

no if PBF goes back down too low that will be his downfall. as well as going to0 high. he should stay and dominate 147 the only reason to go up is to get the super mega million pay day for oscar all other reasons would not be worth the risk.

Yeah that fight was all JR. But Chico is a totaly different fighter today. Since hooking up with Goosen Corrales has realy steped up his game. He is a way smarter fighter now and he has developed a pretty decent jab. Not to mention that at that time Chico had a lot of distractions going on in his personal life. He was battleling legal problems and was on the verge of being sent to prison. Now I aint saying that if they met today there would be a different out come, but I guarantee you that it would be a very closer fight.

i rate that fight as one of pbf's best performances

he stuck with his game plan and methodically broke diego down to a puddle. not to mention, i dont recall corrales ever landing as much as 10 punches in a single round

Corrales is the same fighter, Mayweather just didn't allow him to box. And if they fought today it would end the same way. Corrales still can't afford left hands

I actually find that fight embarrasing to watch, in that Floyd so utterly and completely dominates Chico.

Steelie pretty much sums it up. It was a perfect game plan and it was hard too watch, much like the beat down that Gatti took.

Unlike the more exciting Castillo fight, this fight impressed me more with the lackluster performance of Corrales than the skill of Mayweather simply because of utter slowness of Corrales, nullifying whatever advantage he had in reach and height - he moved just like a lanky robot. To fight Floyd, you need a good speed, that's an absolute requirement, IMO.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

Incredible performance by Floyd but I put my house on it never happening again. Corrales was so weight drained,he looked ill,he looked like he wanted to cry from the beginning,he was having doubts over his boxing career and went to prison soon after. Corrales was dropped 6 times, a few from shots that did not look hard at all, whereas look how many shots it took JLC to drop Chico.

Make no mistake,Corrales would lose a rematch but in absolutely no way shape or form would it be the same fight. Corrales would not be weight frained, may win some rounds and would throw more than 5 punches per round.

Do you seriously think that?? Corrales, stylistically, can't touch Floyd. It wouldn't look anything different if they fought again especially since FLoyd now fights 12lbs higher than Corrales does.. Where could the fight even happen? If they each came in whatever weight they wanted, it would look the same as the first fight. Corrales is not a great boxer, and Castillo is in no way an elusive counter puncher or anything like that, Corrales could land on Castillo because he always comes forwards and will take big shots to unload his own... Against Floyd chico would have to come forward and then FLoyd can catch him on the way in every single time, and completely negate Chico from the outside. It's not like Floyd ever really hurt Corrales, Castillo was clearly hitting him harder and hurting him, but Floyd caught him off balance so often, because he had to come forward to even try and land...
