Marcos Maidana: I'm Not Even Thinking About Boxing - Boxing News

Shame to hear this, hes obviously happy with the money he made in the the Mayweather fight and might decide enough enough. His family don't want to him to fight anymore apart from his dad, hes very overweight too.

Mayweather pay-days ruin you. lolol.... Victor Ortiz should have done the same as well, because after that fat ass cheque he was never the same fighter. Even Maidana wasn't the same in the second fight with Mayweather. The only two guys that maintained and got better were Cotto and Canelo.

Larry Merchant said the same thing.

Marcus does not want to earn peanuts after tasting caviar.

I can't blame him really. He didn't just win the lottery, he earned it wiping the floor with Broner and his hairbrush. If I won the lottery tomorrow the only way I'd go back to work is to fly my helicopter over the building.

It always seemed apparent with Maidana that he didn't give a fuck about who he was fighting or the occasion. I think it's brilliant that a fighter like him - always in cracking fights/generally the b-side - makes a boat load of dough and says that's enough. He was never getting smashed in the mouth for our entertainment, or "glory," purely to earn a living (one that seems to have paid off). Respect.

He doesn't want to leave his tractors. This is a warning, wives come and go but don't ever get between a farmer and his tractors. I know many of you think I'm joking, but I'm serious!

Can't blame him. He definitely improved over time and got some big fights and a few good wins. He worked hard for what he got and I don't think that fighting on will do him much good if he doesn't really want to fight anymore.

If he's managed to get out with enough after tax to retire and he keeps himself relatively safe and fit and prosperous farming then brilliant. He'll always be remembered for what he did to Broner, can't remember enjoying a fight more than that for years.

The blinds that I had on concerning Broner were removed on that evening.

Maidana was limited and got lucky to get a couple of shots against Floyd. Thurman would beat him with ease. Do not make Marcus Maidana to be some monster welterweight when most of the top fighters would out box him.

I agree that he wasn't that special but he made some exciting fights and fought tough competition. He did well for his skill level.

As for fighting Thurman, I'm not sure who would win. I love Thurman but he definitely has problems with pressure fighters.
