( - what happened to all these guys? Some long forgotten colourful characters )

So ten years ago it was basically a given GMan smokes everyone from back then inside 6 rounds (apart from BHOP, he might go the distance). Calzaghe in 6. Froch in 2 (). Winky, Pavlik, AA, Kessler, Sergio etc all cannon fodder.

    How about today?

    Golovkin?
    Canelo?
    Jacobs?
    Lemieux?
    Eubank Jr?
    DeGale?
    Groves?

We know G Man had no plan But against a top fighter so Triple G beats him after 6 rounds. Undecided on Canelo as I think he has a good chin. The others I am not sure.

Anthony Mundine- Gone by round 3

Carl Froch- Unless he learns to keep his hands up he aint gonna last 2 long I'll say 1st round KO
Cold hearted Bastard Joe Calzaghe, takes what Gerald has and puts him on his ass by 8th round.
Mikkel Kessler can also take Gerald digs and outlasts him for a late stoppage in 10th
Carl Froch gets better as the rounds go on, so after early shock of Geralds punches, Froch grinds him down later.

These three fighters are simply too complete and know how3 to apply boxing instead of simply having a big punch which was McLellan

I think that what we're forgetting with these mythical match ups is that McLellan was really a MW. If I'm not mistaken, he moved up to SMW to challenge Benn, who himself was a very small SMW .
so I think it's only fair to compare McLellan to MW's.

Is that really the case? Wasn't Mclellan weighing up to 170 come fight nights, hence the move to SMW

Having watched Gman against Benn, I've revised opinion. He would matchup better against Calzaghe, Kessler , Froch a lot closer than I first though.

I dunno man, the game has changed, it's not what it used to be. Yeah he was great in his time in that era but I think today's fighters deserve credit. Well I dunno, it's just speculation, maybe he would kick all their asses!

He probably was weighing up to 170, but the Calzaghes , Kesslers and not so much Froch are probably coming in over 180 on fight nights. And , I'm not certain, but they probably all would have a height and reach advantage.
I don't even think it would've been same day weigh ins as I think 24 hour weigh ins came after the Watson tragedy before this fight. Can't swear to that though.

Benn beat Eubank in their second fight and should have got the decision, winning the title in Italy and USA was a tremendous accomplishment.
