Hmm .... ....... how about if you put all the bags of gold on the scales (hence using it once) and then take the bags off one by one while watching the weight. Once it reduces by 11 grams, then that is the bag full of fake gold. Alternatively, if the last bag remaining weighs 11 grams then that is the fake one?

The real gold, fake gold, and all five bags are identical in every way, except the pieces of fake gold each weigh 1.1 grams, and the real gold pieces each weigh 1 gram.

You have a perfectly accurate digital gram scale and can use it only once.

How do you determine which bag has the fake gold?
Ok I think I have it but I could be way off you take 1 coin from the first bag 2 coins from the second 3 coins from the 3rd etc, depending on how many .1 grams it is over would tell you which bag is the fake gold...does that make sense?

So if the total ways .3 grams over then you know that is fake.

    It works in my head

Right O, I can try and explain this a bit better now I'm on my laptop and not on my phone

    so...

    bag 1 - 1 coin
    bag 2 - 2 coins
    bag 3 - 3 coins
    bag 4 - 4 coins
    bag 5 - 5 coins

all get weighed at the same time so you are only using the scales once (not adding or removing weight as the other posts suggested)

so if they were all real gold you would have 15 grams total

however many 0.1 grams it is over by will show which bag is the fake, so for example if you have 15.3 grams then you know that the 3rd bag is the fake, 15.5 and you know that the 5th bag is the fake

Nope, I've heard it before (when I was on my old team at work we would do fucking hundreds of these things to pass the time) I'm terrible at maths and shit like that so I had to really rack my brains to make sense of it again.

It's the the bloke who diddles 3 people out of their bill and there ends up being a missing pound

An old man dies, leaving behind two sons. In his will, he orders his sons to race with their horses, and the one with the slower horse will receive his inheritance.

The two sons race, but since they're both holding their horses back, they go to a wise man and ask him what they should do. After that, the brothers race again — this time at full speed.

What did the wise man tell them?

    Swap horses for the race
After they switch horses, whoever wins the race will get the inheritance because they still technically own the losing (i.e., slower) horse.

Now I know why they call you Batman!

    Riddle me this...

the river is by a small boat, which can only hold the farmer and one of the three items.

Left unsupervised, the chicken will eat the grain, and the fox will eat the chicken. However, the fox won't try to eat the grain, and neither the fox nor the chicken will wander off.

How does the farmer get everything across the river?

Take the chicken, go back then take the grain, take the chicken back with you then swap him for the fox, leave the fox with the grain and go back and get the chicken
