exactly......Baldomir got lucky with PBF hurting his hand...he was being setup to recieve a patented "Gatti like" beatdown compliments of PBF!!

There was not one shot that hurt Baldy....NOT ONE!!!

    ABSOLUTELY!!

The thing here was, Floyd won rounds for gunnin and runnin, but Baldy did most of the contact.....Just a one sided panel for PBF....It wasnt that huge of a victory to me, I gave it to PBF, but only had him winning like 7 rounds solid...

    Grats PBF for the win,....

You've got to be joking. I thought Lederman was wrong to even give Baldi the 12th. An unquestionable 120-108. Baldi didn't make any contact--he landed like less than 100 punches the whole fight and was outlanded in every single round. The guy didn't do anything except throw a few very wide combinations that Floyd entirely ducked. Even the few shots that the HBO guys were trying get excited about were total wiffs. I don't know how you could score a single round for Baldomir.

I mean, I agree the fight was not too exciting--it looked a lot like Hopkins' matches for the past 5 years--but I would still call a 12-0 route a "boxing clinic". Just the defense alone was pretty incredible to watch--and I'd put it up against Winky Wright's vaunted "high guard" defense any day.

i dont know about that. I think 160 would be going up too much for Baldomir. One of his strengths is the ability to come down so much weight and still be strong. He still can kick ass at WW, just not against FM Jr because the guys too fast and too mobile. The casual boxing fan was probably bored to death in this fight and saw it as a really pussy and chickenshit fight on Mayweather's part. I saw a great defensive fight where one fighter used his speed and movement to outpoint and avoid being KOed by a man who a lot of people called "knockout-proof" and said would walk Floyd down and beat him down. Not the most exciting fight because of how one sided it was, but I was still impressed by Mayweather's accuracy, ability and speed. I dont care what anyone says, that was a one sided ass whipping. No he didnt hurt Baldomir, but he smacked him up for 12 rounds without really breaking a sweat.

your right,.........fm jr didnt even break a sweat,..... but to earn 500$ for a ticket, i would have to sweat my little balls off punk.

im glad it was free tv viewing in ireland,....... but i did have to stay up till 5 am to see it,......the entetainment came from the undercard.

to say that anybody who thought that was boring is a "casual fan" is silly.
the emporor's new clothes...... nobody will buy that im afraid.

the fight was pure muck. as somebody said earlier,...... winky wright must be a casual fan ,...cause he left early too.

I think Baldomir coming down to 147 is bad for him because of the weight he has to lose.

I'd love to see him fight Margarito at 147. I don't think he needs to worry about being "outboxed" in that fight

I rewatched this fight this morning, and I stand by my original assessment of this fight. I was on the edge of my seat the first five rounds, but the rest of the fight was boring. I don't see why on this board you're always labeled "just a casual fan" if you think a fight is boring. PBF even said his hand was hurt so he has an excuse for him not taking advantage of the millions of mistakes that Baldy made in the second half of the fight. I don't understand why people just can't admit that the second half of the fight was unentertaining. Even Manny Steward, who is a training legend, was restless with Mayweather towards the end.

You're right. Not ONE shot hurt him. But getting tattooed by everything Floyd threw all night hurts. Hurts his confidence to press forwards anyways. Like he needed to do in order to have a puncher's chance in the fight.

I just don't think he was fast enough. It's obvious right now that a straight in and out fighter has no chance just bullrushing Floyd.

your right, the bullrush is the wrong play, you got to get Floyd to come in, can't chase him around , Mayweather will just pot shot and make anyone look foolish, you got to bait him in, make him come to you. anyone that chases him will get out maneuvered. , They could shorten that ring by about 8-9 ft !( Put it in the contract) damn that was big ring ! and Floyd used every Square inch ! :P..

LOL, that's crazy.. The only reason he has made a ripple at welterweight is because he's freaking huge for 147 and can take just about anyones best shot.. At 154 or 160 he would be absolutely nothing.. I seriously doubt you are a boxing coach, or at least a good one, with your comments in this thread... Baldomir won 5 rounds against Floyd, he would be "awesome" at 154 or 160?? WHY.. What attributes do you think would serve him so well at a higher weight.. He does absolutely nothing impressivly he is just big and strong for a welter. At 154, let alone 160, he wouldn't even be able to take punishment which is all he's good at.

    Well,

here is the way I see it....

There are two bad ass weightg classe that you need to have speed and power in in the sport of boxing today and thats 147 and 168. These two weight classes have been whats kept boxing exciting this past year....

The heavies have disappointed us all....The lightweights, well, they are lightweights....

The welters and Super Middles have made for some exciting match ups....PBF, Calzaghe, Kessler, Green, Lacy

I think Baldy could add a little spice to the Light Middles by adding a very tough fighter to a weight class that needs excitement....Right now, the Light Middles have a bunch of guys that are in need of exciting match ups and Baldy could produce some of it for them....

How can I say this?? you ask....

Well, its extra weight that Baldy does not have to worry about losing and in Boxing, 7-10lbs. is ALOT....which in turn, helps with his energy and stamina levels(Which arent that bad now). Plus, he doesnt have to worry about being lightning fast, power will play a little bit more in this weight class...I am not saying that Baldy would add all the excitement, there are a FEW fighters in the class that would be tough, but not many....Mosley and DLH, being the few I am talkin about....The rest, I dont see giving Baldy that much trouble....he may not win all of the fights in this class, but he sure would make them work for the win....

I will be the first to admit, PBF did what he needed to do to win, HE BOXED...I never said he didnt....But, I dont like to see fighters drop 40+ lbs to make weight for a fight, I dont even allow for my pro fighters, by contract, even weigh more than 10lbs above their weight class at any given time....This is so that any needed weight loss will not hurt them in any way, shape or form.....Extreme Weight loss is damaging to the body, whats even worse is when the weight is made and the fighter can relax and eat a little more than usual(like 5 Cheeseburgers, 2 shakes and three large fries!!! LOL)....

If taking fights at one weight class higher will help any for Baldy, then he should do it....I dont see any problems for him there at the light middles....

    Good luck,

    Coach
