Default Daniel Dubois split with his trainer

Daniel Dubois has split from his head trainer, Don Charles.

The pair have parted ways after a fruitful two-year partnership that saw 'Triple D' crowned IBF heavyweight champion.

Conor Benn's trainer, Tony Sims, has replaced Charles at the helm.

Its the 27-year-old's fourth professional trainer after Charles, Shane McGuigan and Martin Bowers.

Sims famously led Joshua to the IBF heavyweight title with a win over Charles Martin in 2016 and has worked with several other world champions, including Ricky Burns, Joe Cordina, and Darren Barker.

The Essex-based coach recently linked up with fellow British heavyweight Johnny Fisher and continues to build a promising stable of fighters led by Benn, George Liddard, and Jimmy Sains.

This was not a trainer or training issue. This was a Dubois issue, his heart and his concentration on the fight at hand. (I heard his pre-fight preparation was a party atmosphere...)

Daniel Dubois insist his decision to leave Don Charles was 'too rash' and it made sense for him to rejoin his former trainer.

"We sat down and had a family meeting, and we decided to do that U-turn because I had the best nights with Don.

"He knows me as a person, it just makes sense. I think it was everyone needed to go away and think about things.

"It was a quick and rash decision, but I'm glad we are back together and he is the right heavyweight trainer for me."

He continued: "Yeah that's about right [didn't gel with Sims].

"I feel like the person and character I am, Don is the right guy for me, he will help me get back to the glory days."

"They have been talking about a fight in April, I have been chomping at the bit.

"We are working on it, I will be going into camp soon, so it will be all systems go."
