Default Gervonta Davis v Jake Paul

Thought this is worthy of a thread as crazy as this fight is.

The venue for Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis' fight has been moved to Florida after doubts were raised over whether it would gain permission to take place at the original venue in Georgia.

The bout on 14 November had been in jeopardy after Georgia officials said the fight would no longer be taking place under their governance.

But organisers MVP Promotions announced on Wednesday that the event will instead be held at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

"New city, same mission, seek and destroy the tank," Paul said in a statement. "Kaseya Center. Friday, November 14. I'm bringing the heat."

Earlier on Wednesday, the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (GAEC) told USA Today, external that MVP Promotions had halted its efforts to get the fight sanctioned.

Rick Thompson, chairman of the GAEC, said MVP had withdrawn the event permits and rule waivers required to hold the fight in Georgia.

"I believe it's in the public's interest to know that because they've been promoting something they should not have been,'' Thompson said.

Responding to the mounting speculation, Nakisa Bidarian, who co-founded MVP with Paul, said on social media: "Fight is not in doubt. Never has been. Stay tuned."

Paul v Davis was set to be an exhibition fight but there has been no clarification about which rules will apply.

Davis is a lightweight world champion, fighting at 9st 9lb (61kg), while Paul has fought most of his career at cruiserweight, which is 14st 4lb (90.7kg).

The fight would not count on their professional records and a weight agreement would need to be reached.

The GAEC was scheduled to vote on the issue on Thursday.

"They probably evaluated a situation - knew that their weight differences were too much,'' said Thompson.

BBC Sport has asked MVP for comment.

All exhibition and professional bouts in the US are overseen by a state's individual athletic commission.

Paul and Davis hold professional boxing licences but, while Davis has been fighting at world title level, Paul has fought mostly ex-MMA fighters.

The YouTuber turned boxer secured the biggest win of his career in his last bout when he beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on points.

A news conference is scheduled to take place on Monday in New York before one in Miami the following day.

    12 ounce gloves

Part of me wants Paul to keep winning just so I can see him get clattered.

Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul's exhibition bout will be contested over 10 three-minute rounds and a winner will be declared, says Most Valuable Productions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian.

The14 November bout was moved from Atlanta to Miami last week after MVP, the promotions company founded by Paul and Bidarian, pulled out of efforts to get the fight sanctioned in Georgia.

The fight is controversial because of the big weight disparity, with Davis a lightweight world champion, fighting at 9st 9lb (61kg), while Paul has fought most of his career at cruiserweight, which is 14st 4lb (90.7kg).

Speaking at the first news conference, Bidarian said the Florida Athletic Commission (FAC) had agreed to several conditions, including that the maximum weight would be 13st 13lb (88kg).

"There will be a victor because the fighters have agreed and the commission has approved a maximum weight of 195lb for this exhibition," he said.

"When Tank and Jake enter the squared circle to go to battle, they will be wearing 12oz gloves.

"Sitting ringside will be three commission-approved world-class professional judges that will score every round to ensure there's a decisive outcome for the fight if it goes the distance.

"And both men are enrolled in the highest level of testing with Usada (US Anti-Doping Agency)."

Davis wears 8oz gloves as a lightweight, while Paul often wears 10oz gloves in his fights.

Paul, 28, has 12 wins and one loss on his professional record, while 30-year-old Davis has 30 victories and one draw.

Both men hold professional licences but the result of the exhibition will not count towards their professional records.

BBC Sport has asked the FAC to confirm the details of the fight, including if knockouts will be permitted.

Paul has seven stoppages but his last two bouts have gone the distance.

"There's a lot of holes in his defence that a lot of people haven't exposed before," Paul said of Davis.

"I haven't got a knockout in a long time, so I'm itching. I'm just excited to be able to deliver that for the fans and have another most viral knockout ever."

Paul has courted criticism in the past, having fought a 58-year-old Mike Tyson last year.

Davis was expected to fight Lamont Roach Jr in a rematch after their bout in March ended in a controversial draw.

"Every time I fight, it's fireworks," Davis said.

"I'm much quicker than him. He's much stronger and much bigger, but we all know that it's harder for taller fighters to fight a shorter one.

"He's decent and he's going to hold up for a couple of round, but once it gets hot in there you know how things play out."

Good on the FAC to agree to the 195-lb weight limit.

We wouldn't want Paul to be too big for Davis.

This is just a complete disgrace. Why would anyone even dream this fight up? Oddly enough, I will watch it. But it is still bad for the sport.

Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva will fight in a six-round heavyweight bout on the undercard of Jake Paul's exhibition bout against Gervonta Davis on 14 November in Miami, Most Valuable Promotions has announced.

Weidman, 41 and Silva, 50, fought in the UFC, with Weidman winning both their back-to-back encounters in 2013.

American fighter Weidman ended Silva's seven-year reign as UFC middleweight champion with his first win and both men have since retired from MMA.

Silva has competed in five boxing matches, losing two of those bouts.

The Brazilian, widely considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, last boxed in 2022 when he was beaten by Paul.

Weidman retired from the UFC in January, finishing his MMA career with 16 wins and eight losses, and will be competing in his first boxing fight.

Paul's exhibition bout with lightweight world champion Davis will be held at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

There are three world titles on the undercard, including Alycia Baumgardner's defence of her featherweght titles against Leila Beaudoin.

The event will be streamed by Netflix and is being promoted by Most Valuable Promotions, Paul's own company.

Gary Russell v Andy Hiraoka for the WBA 'Super' light-welterweight title is a good fight on the undercard.

Ryan Garcia is reportedly close to completing a deal to face Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

Both sides are working towards a date in the first quarter of 2026 in Las Vegas, in a blow to Jake Paul.

'The Problem Child' is seeking a replacement for his November 14 clash with Gervonta Davis after some harrowing accusations from the boxer's ex-girlfriend, including kidnapping and battery.

Garcia had been approached by Paul's representatives alongside ex-UFC stars Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz.

However, Garcia's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy, shut down the possibility of his client locking horns with Paul later this month.

"So I wake up to calls from reporters asking me about Jake Paul and Ryan Garcia," said De La Hoya on social media.

"Let me just tell you why this fight is not going to happen. Ryan Garcia fights for DAZN.

"And Jake Paul fights on Netflix. I mean, that's pretty much the bottom line.

"Golden Boy has a contract with DAZN. Ryan Garcia has a contract with Golden Boy. And that's just the way it is.

"I mean, this is business. Ryan's probably going to go around saying, 'Oh, you're keeping me from making money.'

"No, you have to go by the law, by the rules.

"You have a contract with DAZN. You have a contract with Golden Boy. It just doesn't happen that way,

There are still a few details to iron out before Garcia and Barrios can announce their fight.

The most pressing of these is getting the green light from the WBC.

Paul is reportedly keen to lure power-punching heavyweight Francis Ngannou back into the boxing ring.

Ngannou is primarily an MMA fighter, previously reigning as a UFC heavyweight champion, as well as holding the title in the PFL.

Although the Cameroon star is a more realistic option, given he has previously fought Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in the squared circle.

Roy Jones Jr. blasts Jake Paul's fake outrage over Gervonta Davis fight falling apart

"I don't really want to have much to say about that because they're about to take it a bad way. All I'm going to say is this, Jake Paul knew what it was when he first signed to fight him. This ain't the first time he had battery against a woman," Jones told Fight Hub TV.

"He knew what it was when you first signed to fight him, so don't get mad and cuss him out and talk bad about him now. You knew what it was when you signed up it. Come on, bro. You know what I'm saying? Let's not do that," continued Jones.

"Don't do the dude like that. Know the dude is having a hard time in his life right now. Don't just do him like that. You know what I mean? Because you knew exactly what he was when you signed him to fight the first time."

I really wish this is true. AJ needs a warm up to build his confidence against a bum. This will end Jake career and circus. There should also be a good undercard too.

In keeping with the changes in the sport, I would recommend starting up a board called: "Boxing Circus"

Anything having to do with Jake Paul, Gervonta, PrincessRy, and a few others could be included in that board.
