Default Nick Ball v Brandon Figueroa

Nick Ball makes his fourth defence of the WBA featherweight title against Brandon Figueroa on Saturday night.

The 5ft 2in star is back in his hometown of Liverpool to take on the American two-weight champion.

Ball won the belt back in June 2024 with a stunning victory over Raymond Ford in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The unbeaten star has since landed victories over Ronny Rios, TJ Doheny and Sam Goodman.

But Figueroa is one of his toughest challengers yet, having won straps at super bantamweight and featherweight.

The Texas-born fighter is currently not defending any titles after losing to Stephen Fulton a year ago.

Though he gets his shot at Ball after a statement win over Joet Gonzalez in the summer.

Figueroa is a really tough test for Ball. I hope Nick can win this in front of his own fans but I fear for him here.

I am out tonight so may miss this one.

    Very happy for Figueroa.
As he was beginning his career, I saw him spar hundreds of rounds. I have spent many hours in the Figueroa family gym in Harlingen, Texas. His father, brother and Brandon himself are quality people.
Manny Robles, who trained Brandon for this fight, is an LA based trainer, the son of the legendary blind trainer, Chato Robles. Manny is a humble man, and it is great to seem him add another world champion to his ledger.
