Default Am I the only Yank who remembers Tony Sibson?

Hey,this guy fought some tough customers. His list of opponents is right up there with the very best. Yet he finished with a 55-7 record. Not too shabby. To borrow an expression, Tony was pretty damm tidy. I saw him ice undefeated John Collins, 29-0 coming in, in 2 in Atlantic City in 1983 and enjoyed it, as Collins was overhyped. He also stopeed Minter and fought Hagler Tate, Lee, Kaylor, Kevin Finnegan, Willie Classen, Lottie Mwale and Dwight Davidson among others. Why doesn;t anyone ever talk about Tony Sibson?

My only recollection of Sibson was his fight with Hagler. My impression of the guy was that he was one tough cookie. Gave Marvin a good fight, but Marvin was just to much for him.

He gave a good account of himself that night. He just never got much exposure in the states other than that.

When I visited Leicester in 1982, I got a boxing program with
Tony's autograph, also met Mick Greaves of Leicester.

Tony SIBBO Sibson was a really good fighter , respected Boxing News here in the UK actually predicted a 6-7 round KO win for Sibson when he fought Marvin Hagler .
His up and down fight with Dangerous Don Lee was a classic scrap.
