    **NOTED.
What you got against Moorer? He was by no means great, but he was a good fighter. Especially as a Light Heavyweight
He was a good light heavyweight but that was almost two decades ago. I think Moorer is just hoping to get a pay per view kind of purse. The poor B****** probably has blown his money and is looking for one last payday. As for Holyfield's reason for continuing on, can anyone spell PSYCHOTHERAPY for him. LOL
I'm not saying Moorer ain't shot. Just wondering what wack has against him
Dunno, I never question Wacko. I don't want to get on the bosses' bad side in here.
I always question Wack. But I doubt he'll have a problem with this one

Boxing needs a masters division. Guys between 40 and 50 only. No they won't make as much as they once did but they'll make something and they'll get to fight.

No they won't be as good as they once were but at least they won't get pounded by the newer guys.

It makes sense to me. I'd pay 10 bucks to see a rematch between HOlyfield and Moorer or Holyfield and Tyson.

It's like the new Rocky movie....you know in advance it's going to suck but you've got to go see it anyways.
I agree!! i think we need more washed-up, greedy, over the hill has beens stealing the spotlight and money from young hard working hopefull up and comers!!
We need more Alis and Gerry Quarrys (oops he died) age 54 from Dementia pugilistica (fought till he was 47.)
Yes yes..the sight of once great boxers shaking and drooling..what a testament to our fine sport! good way to get it banned forever!
Hey the old greats could put all that shaking (trauma induced parkinsons)
to good use! maybe get jobs as bartenders! Every martinishaken! not stirred! or maybe paint shakers at the local hardware store!?!?
Hey Mad TV is already making great skits out of Evanders nonsensical ramblings!! what fun!! and hey James Toney damn near needs subtitles!!
Isn't it great!!! read the Gerry Quarry story in wilkpedia......see how you feel then.

A masters category?? this isn't golf.
If you've said it before....please......for the sake of the sport and the fighters....dint say it again.

Hey jackass, no ones stopping them from boxing currently are they??

What would you rather see, Wlad pound the S*** out of Holyfield, Moorer or Tyson, or have them fight some older guy between age 40 and 50 who probably doesn't have much in the tank as it is??

Because what you seem to be missing here is that NO ONE is going to stop them from fighting. They will get around it somehow ALA Holyfield and Mesi with the brain bleed.

Last I checked Holyfield just fought Oquendo didn't he. My idea was to seperate them into a different category as to protect them from the younger fighters which is who they will otherwise end up getting battered by.

And as far as stealing money from the younger fighters goes........

There is plenty to go around. It's not like these guys are being paid out of a trust fund is it

So your point again was what?

Here you go for your obnoxious response...

You'll know what that's for when you get another glove under your name.

Let it be noted, I absolutely 100% agree with you Wacko! Moorer is a fat, smart ass bitch, who's legacy will always be getting KTFO by a 45 year old George Foreman. Moorer, you LOST to Elicier Castillo, Elicier FUCKING Castillo! You ain't shat, you never were shat, and Tyson woulda made you shit your pants back in the 90s!
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

    Welcome to the forum

Im sorry if I hurt your feelings.
I did, however, try and temper my response with humour, although the story of Quarrys one brother who never boxed, caring for his 3 fighting brothers who were unable to clothe or even bathe themselves ,isnt funny.
Did you read the wilkepedia article?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Quarry

And here's his Tombstone "The Great White Hope"
    http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...e=gr&GRid=7447

No One is going to stop them from boxing?? Really?? try telling that to Tommy Morrison or maybe Joe Mesi for the last what? 3 years?? you don't think Holyfield didn't think twice after being denied a license?
Society must protect people from harm even if its self induced. There will always be people who would take advantage of a fighter with no concern for the integrity of the sport or the fighters well fare or safety to make a few bucks.

Dramatic?? "thank you..thank you" (bows and waves accepting emmy)
I just re read my post.. I'm still laughing!! Hey at least I try to post something funny or entertaining while making my point. Ya gotta give me that! whether you agree or disagree.
If i came across as Obnoxious.. again.. I'm Sorry.......

    Hurt my feelings....

Nope ......I keep those in my pants and unless you been diggin around in there it's not a possibility.

As far as your post goes....sarcasm is great but a little overboard and preachy at the end...

My real problem though is that you came across as if my suggestion alone is going to harm the fighters out there and to be honest, my intentions were actually the reverse.

You see, lets start with Tommy Morrison....the reason why he was not allowed to fight has nothing to do with dementia and everything to do with the governing bodies feeling that someone may contract something from him...if you know what I mean.

Joe Mesi is cleared to fight because he was relentless in getting the decision overturned.

Holyfield is cleared to fight because he was relentless in getting the decision overturned.

Now without trying to be rude or condesending, what is the common denominator here?

It's that if a fighter is relentless enough, right or wrong, he will be able to step back in the ring period.

Now here is where my point comes in and believe me, this is not easy to say given that I was once a huge Holyfield fan,

I would rather see Holyfield fight a worn down Tyson, worn down Moorer, or worn down Bowe than see him go in and get decapitated by the likes of Wlad Klitschko. That was my whole idea behind the Masters divsion..(the idea taken from Bodybuilding). Its to level the playing field so that fighters who are older and have had a longer career can fight other fighters that are older and have had a longer career.

After all, this is a boxing forum. You don't see my joining a hunting forum and then directing the members to articles of cases where people were killed by hunting rifles.

Same applies here. I am here because I like the sport. I don't wish dementia on anyone.

If the doctors say they shouldn't fight then so be it...but otherwise, right or wrong they are going to do it.

Hopefully this clarifies my position on the matter...sorry if I got defensive but the Gerry Cooney thing felt like you were placing a guilt trip on me and if you go back and read you post again I think you'll see what I mean.

I will even out your clicks for you.

P.S. the violin is in the more tab above where you post.

Unfortunately this idea would be completely unworkable.

None of these fighters who make a comeback would want to fight in a 'masters' division. They all make the comeback thanks to a 'usually deluded' belief that they can get themselves in shape and challenge for world titles one last time.

You think if we had a masters category in boxing that Holyfield would be content to fight in that? Hell no, he's only interested in fighting for a real title, not some novelty trinket.

Plus, with most of the belts now being little more than trinkets anyways I would hate to see an even more useless belt and governing body being created.........

I disagree, Evander has given the fight fan many thrills over the years, He has credit with me.. The man wants to fight at 50 years old so be it.. If only today’s Heavyweights had the determination factor , skills, and conditioning this 40 plus year old fighter have. The state of the division wouldn’t be a joke today. I for one hope he can win it all and retire and accomplish his goals.

I like Evander too... that's why I want him to retire. I want him to be able to spell his name and recognize his kids (all 15 of them) 10 years from now. I don't want to pick up a newspaper 10 years from now and read about Parkinson's or pugulistic dementia.
When a baseball or basketball player hangs around too long, all he does is ruin his stats. When a boxer stays around too long, he's risking his livelihood. Big difference.

Boxing is Evander's lively hood. Its what he loves in life. It’s what he knows. The man has bills to pay just like everyone else. 20,000 Sq foot mansion up keep , isn’t cheap. He has the right to fight on and do what he loves. think about it firefighters and police risk there lives everyday, Hell driving to the store could be your last go.. I feel when its your time its your time, if your in the ring or playing with your kids. Can't worry about all that. Evander passed his physical ,and if he keeps on winning he should have free reign to continue his career and should have the support from the fans.

holyfield isnt exactly mike tyson. he has plenty of money, the bills have nothing to do with the reason he wants to continue. what scares me about evander is he isnt saying well im gonna give one more go and if i lose i will retire. he is saying nomatter if he losses or not he will continue until he can no longer climb in ring! that's not cool. i love evander but lets face it he wont be champ again! some young guy will hurt him. so its sad to see it play out like this.

as for the seniors division im all for it and agree with wacko 100%. oliver mcall vs holyfield sounds good to me but evander vs klitchko doesnt. and finally to respond th the tread holyfield vs moorer isnt a bad fight even though moorer hasnt been active evander looked horrible against oquendo. moorer's jab is a problem for holyfield and evender dont look like he can turn up the heat like he did in the second fight to get moorer out of there. so if moorer was in decent shape and jabbing this could be a decent fight , but evander can easily hurt moorer's glass chin so he would always be one punch away from a two point round. moorer tends to get up from knockdowns with heart and holyfield cant throw more than one punch per minute so i would see maybe 2 knockdowns in his favor and winning a decision if this happened again.

as for the seniors division im all for it and agree with wacko 100%. oliver mcall vs holyfield sounds good to me but evander vs klitchko doesnt. and finally to respond th the tread holyfield vs moorer isnt a bad fight even though moorer hasnt been active evander looked horrible against oquendo. moorer's jab is a problem for holyfield and evender dont look like he can turn up the heat like he did in the second fight to get moorer out of there. so if moorer was in decent shape and jabbing this could be a decent fight , but evander can easily hurt moorer's glass chin so he would always be one punch away from a two point round. moorer tends to get up from knockdowns with heart and holyfield cant throw more than one punch per minute so i would see maybe 2 knockdowns in his favor and winning a decision if this happened again.
Holyfield would wax Klitchkos ass , Todays heavyweights are shit. Holyfield 2007 baby !
