You have to tell me how to hook it up, I have no clue.

And for the longest time, niether did i!
I think you have to do two or three things...

1st connect your Xbox ethernet cable (if you didnt throw it away ) to your router (not modem, if you dont have a router, you need one). Also, if your Router only has one Ethernet port and it is already in use, you'll have to unplug it... Its no biggie (Its what i do).

2nd, once connected, i think you have to go on to XBox live via your Console and set up an Username/Microsoft ID and maybe more. I think ts just a case of following the on screen instructions (I know you have to confirm your Xbox's serial number at some point).

3rd, you have to set up a gold account using either a redemption code found on various promotional material (vouchers found in new games, consoles etc) or by paying with a debit/credit card.

All this can be done on Xbox.com aswell, as long as you remember all your pass codes etc.
