Do you even watch these fight? Toney spent most of the fight with his head down. I thought he lost an earring or something. I thought Peter did a good job at restraining his punches for the most part.Originally Posted by Violent Demise

Yes, I agree entirely. Peter was throwing bolo punches all night and the ref was incompetent. Two of the three knockdowns weren't legit. As a matter of fact, Peter may cause serious damage to a boxer by using such dangerous tactics. Maybe Wlad beats him in a rematch. If he would have followed up with that vicious left hook he hit Peter with in the 11th, he probably would have stopped him. However, Toney took the same types of 'illegal blows' in the first fight and kept coming. If he would have had Wladdy's power there never would have been a rematch.Originally Posted by Klitschkofan
Did you? Everybody seems to agree that Peter has a habit of hitting in the back of the head, except you. I taught you always "tell it like it is"Originally Posted by Bx730NY
ok if any of this shit is not intentional by peter and it just happens on accident why did he pull the illegal hit the guy on the side of the head with both fists at the same time, which definitely was intentional, which I believe happened in the first toney fight.
I think Vlad's main problem was lack of endurance. He was huffing and puffing like a hurricane after 4 rounds. Me thinks he has overcome that weakness.
I could buy that. The next time around and there will be one, will answer alot of questions. If anyone is interested, we can get some non-monetary wagers going.Originally Posted by sexydarin

It's not just vs Wlad....it's not like it was a one time thing that Sam Peter did, he's done it to NUMEROUS fighters.....don't bullshit Sam Peter rabbit punches and it's illegal and unlike clinching it can KILL peopleOriginally Posted by Bx730NY
and if Sam Peter or ANYONE ELSE for that matter is good enough to beat Wlad they need to know how to not get tied up, if tying someone up made champions then hell Stuart Smalley could be undefeated undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World.....the holding is an EXCUSE and that is all...get over it

I'm saying that as a Boxing Fan. They are deadly and can kill someone. That's not what this

Well, I'm not sure he is throwing "bolo punches" ala Kid Gavilan or Louis "Feo" Rodriguez. They are rabbit punches when thet hit the back of an opponent's neck and are illigal. The ones to the back of a head are also " no-no's." Those are clubbing punches but tecnically are not rabbit punches. Bolo punches are perfectly legal as long as they are above the belt. Very few fighters use them becaus they take too much time. Naco Barrio is onethat does.
Bolo punches are not one of the traditional boxing punches (jab, uppercut, hook and cross) and they are seldom used.
The bolo punch might not even be thrown at all. It really is a circular motion that one boxer does with one of his arms to distract the opponent, causing the opponent either to take his eyes off the attacker's other arm, or actually focus on the fighter's other arm. When the opponent concentrates on the punch that is circling, usually the bolo puncher would sneak in a punch with the hand that is being sustained. When the rival concentrates on the hand that is not moving, then the bolo puncher usually uses the bolo punch to attack his target.
Ceferino Garcia is commonly referred to as the inventor of the bolo punch.. Garcia, Kid Gavilan and Sugar Ray Leonard are widely recognized as three of the best bolo punchers in boxing history.
When asked once how he came to develop the wide sweeping uppercut, Garcia said when he was a youth he used to cut sugarcane in the Philippine Islands, with a bolo knife, which he wielded in a sweeping uppercut fashion.
Two of the most famous cases of a fighter using the bolo punch were when Leonard avenged his loss to Roberto Duran ("The No Más Fight") and when Leonard drew with Thomas Hearns in their second fight

A rabbit punch is a punch to the neck or to the base of the skull. It is considered dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious spinal cord injury or even death. For this reason the punch is illegal in boxing[1] and many other combat sports that involve striking. The punch's name is derived from the use of the technique by hunters to kill rabbits with a quick, sharp strike to the back of the head, for instance using a blunt object such as a steel pipe.[2]

I'm being a bit facetious, Ted. Of course I'm not referring to the "bolo punches" of the Kid Gavilan and Sugar Ray Leonard days. They are just very dramatic and telegraphed blows to the back of the head that can be lethal. I'm sure, as we are both boxing fans, you wouldn't want to see a fighter get killed in the ring over such flagrant indiscretions.Originally Posted by Ted The Bull
Of course not. I have seen way too many ring deaths over the years. I think Sam has to discipline himself on this. By the same token, I know of no fighter who was ever been seriously hurt by a rabbit punch. I'm sure it has happened, but the talking heads give it more due than it's worth. Jim "I'm out on bail" Lampley, Farhood, Bernstein, Merchant and the other imbeciles.
It's up to the referee to control this. If the fighter keeps his head down, he owns it unless it is willfully done. IMO
