He indeed could..His skill level is barely touchable...
If he had the dicipline of somebody like bernard hopkins who stayed at middleweight almost his entire career... And should have been a natural light heavyweight more then five years ago..
If he had that sort of discipline to stay down at middleweight and supermiddle he could have been considered one of the greatest ever imo..I mean his skills shone the birghtest at middle and super mid..
Fighting nunn, johnson, mcallum twice... Barkley at super middle..He wanted em all ..Never ducked a man..
He called out julian jackson after his second fight with mcallum...
And was undefeated until he fought roy jones..
His first loss came to him by his own fault due to the fact that he shut his camp early.. didnt train right..
And underestimated one of the most unorthadox and skilled fighters of the century...
And he could have pulled it off against most of the guys out there having trained badly..But not against roy jones...
Then following the bout he lost alot of discipline and kinda faded out of the big scene whilst at light heavyweight and whatnot.. Not to be recognised until his massive comback to the big time getting foty against jirov gaining his first recognised world title in 9 years and then moving further to heavyweight and stopping holyfield...

He has had alot of criticism for the fights he has taken at heavyweight ...
But these have all been named fighters..Ruiz rahman etc are good fighters...
But he gets alot more trouble because of his shape rather then his performance

Yeah James is one talented mofo. If he had Marciano's comitment to training you would have one of the greatest fighters of all time IMO.

I think he is a great boxer & HOF'r, but he is just about out of options.

I really wish he would have stayed at Cruiser, I think he could have helped the division & dominate for years. At his age there is no way for him to get the weight down. He cant really compete against the big heavyweights. Sure he can box them & slip & roll punches but he doesnt have the power to do anything.

James it may be time to retire & see you at the HOF in around 5 years.
