It's a lot less painful being held than being hit. No-one else has ever been able to tie Lacy up like that and he's fought some big super middles. He was probably pretty confused by the time he got inside and appreciated the rest. Like the previous post said, he didn't seem to anxious to work out of clinches (I'm not criticizing his heart btw. After watching 5-6 rounds I was wondering why he kept fronting up to the beating)

those other three matches that went to the 12th round all those guys were excessively holding lacy. and after awhile pushing somebody off you is very hard work and tires you down very quick which is why joe was holding. joe would hit him bout 3 times and then hold lacy ALL THROUGHOUT THOSE 12 rounds

Have a look at the number of shots Calzaghe threw. It wasn't a jab and grab fight. No disrespect to Lacy but he needed more than a ref calling break to win that fight. He wasn't ready

Look, a big guy who is a supposed bad-a**, should not let someone hold him. I've seen leser fighters not get held because of determination. If Joe took his heart with punches, or the crowd was overwhelming, is no excuse. If someone tries to hold me, they are gonna pay. And if they are still holding, the ref is gonna take a point away.

Joe landed, yes LANDED,over 1000 punches on Lacy in that fight.Excessive holding?C'mon,Lacy was getting hit 100 times a round, watch the fight again from a neutral point and you'll see Lacy desperate not to let Joe move out of the clinches just as much as you see Joe holding!

lacy fans can leave that shat alone...he got his ass-whooped fair and square...and because he thinks that he knock everyone out with one or two shots ,he's been exposed and his career will be nothing more than maybe a couple of years long because he's too far gone in his style and everyone of top quality will do him the same as JC did...as far as JC being top 5 P4P why he hasn't he fought Ottke yet? I mean its not that far and he doesn't have worry about being too far away his hometown where he can keep beating up the guys from the local gyms....but i think he could be top 10...no higher than five though... PBF, PACMAN, WINKY, Corrales, Castillo have those spots locked and MAB might have six locked so maybe no higher than 6 for Calzaghe...

Look at this record! He has beaten many top quality fighters and never had a real close fight. He did have one SD, but it looks like one of the judges was blind! His last 16 opponents records were a combined 429-30-2 (a 93% winning percentage) and he KO's half of them.

Who's gonna beat him? Should he be on top of the p4p list?
    two words, Robin Reid.
Weren't as close as everybody says - good fight but JC clearly won - and Reid was actually half decent back then!

    And JC was fighting one-handed.

The same goes for Kessler. He has never lost a round on all 3 judges score-cards in his entire pro career - and he has defeated Ring's no. 2 and 3....
